I made it over to western Ohio to see GL in Tiffen, Ohio last night (Sunday).

I hung around until GL came out after the show and i asked Gordon what song was he going to sing on Letterman.

Just wanted to see how long it took to see a response to the post.

I get in a "playfull" mood when I am tired.... Got lost coming back from Tiffen last night and I am REALLY beat....

But enough of that....

Do you really want to know?

When GL came out my boy asked him a question, which was a tough question, he said. Joey's question was "What music do you listen to for entertainment?" GL said a bunch of different stuff but his favorite is Dylan....

So then I asked "Gord, what song were you gonna do on Letterman?".... GL didn't even pause a split second... Looked me in the eye and said "If You Could Read My Mind."

Will send pics ove to Char for her to post. Will write more about the concert later. I am REALLY dragin this morning.

It was a fantastic time though.

Superb photos. I barely recognize Terry. Did he stop eating or something? As I said to you last time you posted photos, nice touch with the suits, very classy. Tempts me to wear mine next month...or my boots and Stetson.

GL Concert, Tiffen Ohio
 

THis was our third concert this year.... Nashville, Akron and now Tiffen.

Small little quaint town southeast of Toledo. Was a warm fall day. They might have set a record of 86 degrees.

We got their early and was milling around... was surprised and happy to see Haynes & Clements outside the stage door before the show. They were both very cordial... talked and laughed a good 15 minutes to Haynes.

About an hour and a half before the show, we were standing in front of the theatre... Wait a minute... That's Barry Keane walking by. I stopped him, got a picture...talked a couple of minutes... WOW....

In my 40 years (wow, I'm old!) of following GL, this was the first time I have spoken in length to the band members.... didn't see Mike though.

I will tell you this in my own opinion. I believe that all of them LOVE what they are doing. They all treated us like we were someone special. It cannot be an act. They all looked quite happy. And that includes GL too.

Did not get a set list (busy taking pictures) but it followed what has been posted recently.

Very intimate theatre (seats 1200) in which the town of Tiffen is VERY proud of, which they should be.

Somewhat conservative crowd. I don't know if it was sold out, though I did not see an empty seat anywhere. Me, my son Joey and his friend Jake were the only ones who gave GL a standing "O" when he came out and after "If You Could Read My Mind".

It was a treat for us to talk with the band members before the show...and GL after the show.

A very special night...a warm fall evening....small little town...a Gordon Lightfoot concert.... how could it be not special?

happy is good! sounds like they're playing a stretch of classic venues down there

maybe the pic, anecdote and reviews threads can all get merged so nobody misses any of the bits or pieces or your wonderful experience..thanks for sharing...and we'll expect a tux and tails next time!

This is my first time posting. Great pictures. Terry really is thin. Does anyone know if he is okay? I think I may have missed a few posts about GL being on Letterman... Did they reschedule? when will he be on?

it's about time, welcome:)

gee, i hope he is ok...just type in Letterman into Search tool to read all about it and anything else you want to catch up on...i'm not much of a paraphraser

Terry has dropped a few pounds (I found them..lol) and is healthy.
Letterman will be re-scheduled..that's all we know..

JJ - meant to do it earlier but daycare kiddies kept me busy!

Boy, Terry Clements is barely recognizeable. Glad he's okay. Time sure marches on, though...Great pictures.

thanks so much for your nice welcome to the site! I have been a Lightfoot fan since I was 12... 1972. I think his music and his lyrics are the soundtrack of my life. Each song elicits a memory. I am pretty sure I have had his music playing at some point each day since the 70's, but then, who hasn't! My husband has been a good sport, Beautiful was our wedding song and while he isn't a big fan, he attends every concert with me, even though I pretty much ignore him until we are back in the car heading home!

LOLOL!! yeah when Lightfoot is around it's hard NOT to keep your focus on just him. I too had "Beautiful" at my wedding..

At what venues have you seen his concerts? tell us more..

I first saw GL at the Universal in Los Angeles as a teen, then several other venues in Los Angeles. As we moved, so did our venues. We have seen him in Saratoga Springs, NY, Phoenix and Tucson, AZ, Cerritos, Ca and Massey Hall. I was supposed to see him in Buffalo a few weeks ago, but alas, my 26 year old daughter was not as intrigued as I. I will be seeing him in Seattle, Wash in a few weeks and I can hardly wait. I just hope it is not raining or he might not want to visit outside after the show...
