The Bill Cosby Show.
Not to be confused with his later series. In this series which was produced from 1969-1971, Bill plays a high school gym teacher named Chet Kinkaid. The show was in the list of top rated shows its first year and perhaps could of gone on for a 3rd inspite the ratings going down some the 2nd year. However as you can see the series didn't use a laugh track in which NBC wanted to have but Bill was against it, and since he only signed a 2 year contract with the network, they decided to axe the BCS after the 2nd year.

Here's a rather interesting episode from it.

Also the theme song Hicky Burr was rleased as a single but didn't chart.

I don't recall this show at all. Maybe we didn't get it in our little corner of northern Maine, or maybe we just didn't watch it.

Unless you had no NBC affiliate back then I can't see how it couldn't of aired there.

We had NBC. Most likely, Dad didn't want to watch it.
