The unrecorded song "Land with no Name" about the Canadian Metis people written by Gord for Catherine McKinnon...has anyone heard this, have a bootleg or know the lyrics?
Thanks for the help.

We got to hear it three times at the tribute shows, but to my knowledge it has never been recorded. I wanted to try to write down some of the lyrics, but was too enthralled with Ms. McKinnon to do so. Lots of Oooh ooohs in it!

I googled and found one song containing those words exectly by the infamous British Gallagher brothers (written on an Oasis?? geddit??
but then found this

according to Wayne Francis at:- http://www.lightfoot.ca/unresong.htm
"LAND WITH NO NAME
Commissioned by CNR for their "Sea To Sea" documentary."
Anyone have a video of that??

University of Calgary archives has a recording both of Sea to sea (with C. McKinnon singing Land with no name) as well as a separate recording of Gordon Lightfoot singing Land with no name.

Land with no Name
Funny I had meant to ask about this too having as I read that title thought that I had found it included in a "Rare tracks" cd listed on freedb at:- http://www.freedb.org/freedb_search_...sc&id=c10bd10f
but I just rechecked and there is another unreleased song on that compilation:-
"Six days on the road" which is also referred to on Wayne's site
also on that compilation made by person(s) unknown is an alleged medley of Four Strong Winds /Alberta Bound which I suspect is from the Calgary Winter Olympics video and therefore is Ian Tyson singing his Four Strong Winds solo then Ian and Gord duetting on Alberta Bound. Sorry catmanron if that got your heart a fluttering and yes I'd like a copy of any of those three rarities if anyone has one plus Piddling Pete that I heard Gord sing in concert in 1968 but have so far failed to find anyone owning up to having a copy

John,
you did make me take notice, and as you know I can never believe that Gord did not record "Four Strong Winds". I certainly remember the opening of the Calgary Games, with both Ian and Gord singing on stage, it was one of the best openings to a sporting event ever !!.

Keep Smiling Ron.
