I've posted a few more original tunes...kind of a frustrating process to encode and then watch qulity go down! But anyway, you get the gist of the tunes.

Maverick - written in 2007
Named for my Golden Retreiver

St. Mildred's Court - written in 1982
About a place and time in Kentucky

Low Impact - written in the 1980s
Aeorobics for your fingers.

Banjo - written about 2002?
Reminding me that a lot of tunes sound better on other instruments other than a dreadnaught guitar!

Bill,

I find it all stunningly good. I especially like the melody on 'Low Impact'. I have a couple of questions :

1) What brand of guitar is that ?

2) Do you use 3 or 4 fingers to fingerpick ?

Thanks for the comments. I'll alert as I add more.

Guitar: Mossman (mossman-guitars.com)
Model: Badlands.
..which is really a custom Texas Plains model that I built while apprenticing in 1993 when producing video documentary "The American Acoustic Guitar" in grad school. It's a walnut deadnaught with walnut sunburst, abalone fret diamonds, burled walnut headplate, gold tuners, slot through saddle, 1 3/4 in neck at nut. Name came from look of the grain pattern on body -- reminded me of the view flying over Badlands territory.

Mossman has a very interesting history...from Stuart Mossman to Scott Baxendale to current owners. Started with fabulous design and everyone along the way has added improvement tweeks.

I fingerpick with thumb and three fingers..even a pinky thrown it sometimes. Self taught, but took classical lessons twenty-five years ago which helped hand technique to avoid muscle strain.

Yes, I routinely threw in Lightfoot songs when playing clubs. I usually thried for the obscure so I wouldn't seem like the average kid with a guitar immitating his hero! (No one would know they were Lightfoot tunes...except for a guy named Tony Lane who knew as many as I did...Tony has gone on to write number one hits for George Strait and several other country artists...he has one video on YouTube).

Approaching Lavender works very well in D tuning. As does In My Fashion, though I've never mastered the talking part...throws me off.

Hi Bill,

That's a great sounding guitar. Your finger picking is awesome. ~Jesse~

Bill,

Thank you so much for sharing! Just beautiful.
Still reminds me of Kottke. That's great!
