I try, but it's confusing. The suit is being brought by Viacom and I can't get a feel for how extensive their holdings are.
The disturbing part for me was the ruling that Google (which owns YouTube) would have to turn over the terabytes of info that include user Ids, IP addresses, and which videos they submit and watch. Viacom says individuals are not at risk of punitive charges, and they just want the evidence to prove their case. Of course, Google/YouTube has been collecting that info all along.
I dunno....it feels like an invasion of privacy to me.
