Altho young Bieber isn't my cuppa I admire his talent and ambition and drive. He's out there on tour constantly, performing to thousands of people on a schedule that would exhaust anyone, even a 16 year old. Our parents thought the Beatles et al were a sorry lot back in the day too. Because his music came about thru the internet doesn't make it less valid in my eyes. TV did the same for many other artists when it was the 'new' thing.

I found something to do while Sarah was on.

I'd have liked it if they did EMR...it's nice to see Cuddy in something other than his 'uni' of cowboy shirt and jeans.

Yeah - young Gord and Luke are similar in face and lankiness.lol

talent ambition drive... yeah, who could disagree... politeness too

don't blame ya for leaving out 'voice', lol

EMR, good choice...as i've said, i feel that IS his signature song and it's dumb that it's not done every night in concert....i have a poll coming up about that very beef

They should have turned her mic down. He looks like he might be singing it very well....if he could only be heard.

thanks for the link, char

wait, you actually loaded it also, lol...good work....but

hey, can you fix the audio to make it stereo? i think Cuddy is mainly coming through the left channel and you have it only coming through one channel, and there is a hum

maybe there will be a CTV link or Juno site link...don't go to any trouble, imo, it aint worth it

The idea of the tribute part was bringing the new/young'uns on and have them be seen on the big stage with a national audience while paying tribute to those who came first..

While I agree it might have been nicer had they traded off the verses, or had mostly Jim, I have to say I kind of liked it as a duet.

More close-ups of Mr. Cuddy wouldn't have hurt either!

Thanks for posting it!

maybe the next generation but not what i call new? not harmer and a handful of others in there, anyhow..i guess the few i never heard of are new though...Cuddys BR arrangements certainly more appealing, imo

maybe i just do not dig female leads on that song, cos i always also skip over the Caldor version on the Beautiful CD tribute

oh, i lost my prior reply...i hit "edit" when i meant "quote"...it wasn't important anyhow

i just realized i've been flaming Cuddy anyhow (the musical director)...i guess he was trying to give Slean a break/boost as he has with so many including McLachlan, Harmer, Kathleen Edwards, even Sexsmith (as an opener), etc, etc

last year at SW gala, the duet he did with Oh Susannah for You Were on My Mind worked well...actually it was lame while they were in unison then took off when the harmony started, but by the abrupt end of this one, i was still waiting....

hey, i guess Drake is still new....and after haring his acapella singing to start the show, i think that guy would have taken hold of that tune and brought an entire new audience into the the world of Gord...it was overly white up there...

he's sharin' the love..stop flaming him!
lol
oh my..
THey might not be 'new' but this years Juno's gave them huge exposure...it was a very "Toronto-centric' event - celebrating 40 years of Junos and Toronto where many started (and stillstart) their careers..That portion was "A Love Letter to Toronto"...
I'm just happy that they had GL as one of the 4 who represented the city and the history of the Junos.

dont know if all can see this but go to Clip 5 of the Juno section of the VIDEO LIBRARY

http://shows.ctv.ca/Junos2011.aspx

a good chunk of the show there...all digital quality, etc...

wow, is Slean married to Royal wood? he menitoned just married when i saw and chatted with him ....or were they just chumming down the red carpet?

i didnt realize all those artists where from Toronto or closeby....Harmer is in the Escarpment here, trying to save it....she has a big fest in a barn/field each year...i dont have the endurance for that anymore, lol...i think i like Harmer's Carrie more than Joni's....does that mean i'm again flaming Canuck royalty?

Joni's and Gord's and Neil's tunes got a little over 2 minutes, while the Band finale (including Kevin's tribute to Garth Hudson) was over 4 minutes

Harmer is a charmer with such chiseled facial features, like Cuddy...and got tons of exposure when she performed at the Grammys years ago, been on Letterman, Leno, etc, etc...she alone created more dynamics in her performance than the GL tune tribute....here is a pic of her plus Greg and Jim (Greg will has earplugs in from the party he was at the night before, lol...kidding, rehearsal) and a shot of Gordie Nelson, lol (nice home shot, eh?)

last shot is of Serena Ryder who showed others how to deliver a line, the wee one that she did get
