Default RIP Joe Cocker (1944–2014)

I just signed on less than an hour ago and read the new. The legendary
Joe Cocker, who electrified the stage at Woodstock 45 years ago,had left us.

Many will say it in the days to come,a legendary singer
and one of the many highlights of Woodstock in August of 1969.

A voice that emotionally tore into a song as strong as an explosion or as gentle in a ballad, like picking a flower from the ground and giving it to the love in question.

Joe,here in the states managed to have only 10 of his songs hit our national top 40 in Billboard.
...but what's more important is,sort of like Hendrix,Joplin or even The Grateful Dead,he didn't need dozens & dozens of "hits" to prove his talent and worth.
His style and the words and musicspoke for themselves.

He did, however, get to #1 finally in 1982,in a duet with Jennifer Warnes. "Up Where We Belong" (From "An Officer And A Gentleman" spent 2 weeks at the top of the Hot 100 in Novermber.

Just the ame,I'd like to note,these are Joe's 10 biggest hits :

1. She Came In Through The Bathroom Window (#30 Feb. '70)
2. The Letter (Live) (#7 June '70)
3. Cry Me A River (Live) (#11 Nov. '70)
4. High Time We Went /
5. Black Eyed Blues (A & B sides - #22July '71)
6. Feeling Alright (#33 Feb. '72)
7. Midnight Rider (#27 Oct. '72)
8. You Are So Beautiful (#5 March '75)
9. Up Where We Belong (#1 Nov. '82)
10. When The Night Comes (#11 Jan. '90)

Joe continued to have hits in the UK after this and wherever he performed, there was always a great audience to come see him, which again,is what's most important. They came to see a man with a unique vocal talent. A true original.

70 Years , 7 Months and 2 days.

RIP Joe.......another music legend, that we'll never see the likes of again.
