I would like to thank Jesse Joe for inviting me to Corfid. There is a lot of good information, and a well versed group of fans here. It is nice to see the work of Gordon Lightfoot will always be remembered. May it live on forever.

I'd be happy to.

In 1974, I was at a campfire ring seaside in San Diego. There were a few guitar players there (as there always were) and we were entertaining each other and the locals . I had finished singing a song I had written when one of the group said, "you sound a little like Lightfoot. I had never heard of G.L. at the time and asked who he was. They told me he had written a song called "If You Could Read My Mind", and it had been a big hit. I heard it one day on the radio and loved it. I bought the album, "Sit Down Young Stranger, and after playing it once, went out and bought Don Quixote, and I believe it was Sundown, his most recent at the time.
I learned to play his songs, and they fit my vocal range perfectly, though years of bad habits have taken their toll as of late. I do not believe he ever got enough respect in the states, but he remains (in my mind) one of the greatest singer/songwriters of our time.

And that's that.
Thanks for asking..
