Hi to all,

I am new to this site, but like it already. Thanks to my Mum I've been a fan of Gordy for nearly 21 years (in June). I've just made a tape of some of my faves of his songs. This should demonstrate my tastes, and show that my collection is far from complete. The songs on it are:
Cabaret/Love and Maple Syrup/The Watchman's gone/It's Worth Believin'/Ordinary man/Somewhere USA/Nous Vivons Ensemble/Looking At the Rain/Brave Mountaineers/Go My Way/The Patriot's Dream/Hi'Way Songs/High & Dry/Race Among The Ruins/Circle Of Steel/Wherefore & Why/Miguel/Farewell To Annabel/I'm Not Sayin'/Ribbon of Darkness.

Am I on the right track, do you more did hard fans think?

Also, if I was to buy only one of his post 70s albums which do you think it should be?

Thanks,
Brett.

Songbook is a wonderful collection to have. It's a tad pricey but to get 88 good Lightfoot songs that span his career to-date...it is money well spent and you can't go wrong!
I also like East of Midnight. It, to me, is a different kind of Lightfoot. Sophisticated is the only word that comes to mind. I appreciate it when an artist is secure enough to take a chance and try something a little non-traditional for them in an apparent attempt to appeal to a broader audience. And if it doesn't work, they have the smarts to return to their original style. I have this album in my collection and am very glad I do. I play it often.

Hi Brett. Welcome to Corfid.
Good choice of songs on your tape.
As for which post 70's album to buy, I think by asking the question here you'll end up buying them all - and why not ? But I must agree with Sheila Ann, Songbook is fantastic. I was reluctant to buy it at first because of the cost but when I eventually did I soon found it was well worth the money.
Keep on dropping in Brett.

Hi Brett!
welcome to corfid.com!!!!!!!! Here's the instructions - RUN - don't walk - to your local music store - hurry - do you have your shoes on? Now out the door to buy, Don Quixote, Old Dan's Records, Sundown, Endless Wire, Shadows, Dream Street Rose, - oh hell -get them all! You can't be without any! Honest! Don't forget Songbook and A Painter Passing Through and Gord's Gold 1 and 2, good grief that's going to be quite a bill!!!

Welcome aboard Brett,
I agree with all the suggestions on what to buy. You should plan to own everything that is available when your budget will allow. But please be forewarned that Old Dan's Records, Dream Street Rose, Shadows, and Salute are NOT available on CD. Also, Waiting for You is sort of hard to find. A great buy is SONGBOOK! But don't delay, and enjoy collecting.
Best of luck,
Bill
