How do I get this article to you guys. The newspapers website doesn't have this article so what do I have to do?
It's about Gord winning a singing competition when he was 12 or so in Toronto and deciding to become a singer.
Anyone have any ideas?

Hi chris,

Maybe you could fax a copy of the article to my fax nr. at +43-1-877 82 99.

Alternatively, if you don't have access to a fax, you could send me a copy via mail.

I will then have it typed and put it on display on my website.

Char,

If you want a cheaper phone call, you can fax it to me at (203) 838-4377. Or, as Florian said, send the scanned file via e-mail. I have lots of imaging software that can convert the scanned file to a jpg. However, if you just do a direct scan, the file will be enormous unless you do some conversion first ... some imaging software (e.g. MS Imaging Professional) will let you specify the file type when you save it, so you can automatically convert but you may need another program to reduce the size to manageable. In case you haven't guessed, I've had the "pleasure" of doing this before!

I will try scanning it and sending it as JPG tomorrow to you Val. If you can then perform some magic and make it appear that would be great. It's an interesting article and Gord talks about what made him become a singer at a very young age.
watch for it tomorrow!

Hi Valerie,

May I kindly ask you to forward the *.jpg to myself? (Or the *.txt if you can easily manage the OCR). If not, please send me the plain *.jpg and I will have it typed and will post the article under this topic as well as in the "Press Articles" section of this website.

Hi char,

Thank you for your efforts. The complete article is available at Press Articles

Maybe someone should request one of the three songs at the next concert?

Thanks for all your hard work Florian.
Wouldn't that be something if Gord sang one of those songs!

I'll add my thanks to Char for the article too. I'm clueless on how these things happen, so it's great that others aren't.

On another note: for you Beautiful fans-- that song was absolutely fantastic the other night in concert. (It's one of my fav. songs.) It made me think of something I'd read somewhere about that song. Apparently when that song came out you couldn't go to a wedding in Canada and not hear Beautiful played. I guess it's like The Wedding Song down here in the states (PP&M, right?) -- I remember going to weddings and thinking "not again" when that song would start up. Its an ok song but doesn't even approach Beautiful.

I had Beautiful at my wedding reception in '77, along with Billy Joel's "You're My Home", Art Garfunkle's version of "I Only Have Eyes For you" and Elvis's "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You (Wise Men)" . How sappy! From the first day I heard Beautiful I declared that it would be the song I would take with me to a deserted island - and that's my final answer!!
My Sister had The Wedding Song". no accounting for taste!!
LOL

"Beautiful" was the song we entered the church with at our wedding on November 25, 1977.

Wes, does your wife cry every time she hears gord perform it? i cry like a baby. i don't think I could have got through that hot August day in '77 if I had to walk up the aisle to Beautiful. I was an emotional wreck as it was! (My parents had just separated after 25 years - 3 weeks earlier - and my father had gone to Las Vegas instead of my wedding after cancelling the hall, church and liquor license!) Ah I remember it well!
I'm surprised I can remember anything from that day!

Guess I was naive to think that I was the only one to love "Beautiful" that much. It's also my favorite of all Gord's stuff. I also had the "desert island" pick of it as the only possible choice. And would've had it at my wedding (tho' not Canadian) if possible. One of those teenage dreams, but the husband is a western music fan (I'm talking old stuff...Jim Reeves, Hank Williams, etc.) and
likes Gord but doesn't rave like I do. (Even insults him..."Leadfoot", LightButt" to get at me. But he does attend concerts with me and loves "Sundown". Well, whataya gonna do with the unenlightened???
Of course, Gord always sings "Beautiful" directly to ME (sorry, everybody else, but deal with it!)
