Hi Duff!
Ha I thought I recognised the name. Duff was the person who in my book famously asked me on the Newsgroup how to make a pound sign (£) which allowed me to have a bit of fun at his expense:-

That's what DSR calls it. I like that name a whole lot better than "Corfid" .

Just came from the show in Knoxville. It was great to see Gord again after 10 years. I tried to get the set list down, in case anyone's interested:

Triangle
Cotton Jenny
(some funny comments about how the US election is "entertaining")
14 Karat Gold
Never Too Close
In My Fashion
A Painter Passing Through
Rainy Day People
(Gord here comments that it seems as if they just left the stage from last time)
Shadows
Beautiful
Carefree Highway
Hang Dog Hotel Room
Ribbon Of Darkness
Sundown
The Watchman's Gone

-Intermission-

The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald
Alberta Bound
The Pony Man
Clouds Of Loneliness
Waiting For You (written on transcontinental flight, Gord says)
My Little Love
If Children Had Wings
If You Could Read My Mind
Baby Step Back
Canadian Railroad Trilogy

Encore: Old Dan's Records

Five songs from the Shadows album, more than any other. Interesting.
Gord's voice is not what it used to be, but I'm glad he's hanging in there, especially after all he's been through. I'm happy about getting to see him one more time, at least.

Okay my friends, here it is. It was very exciting to see Gordon and his orchestra again. The crowd let them know they were really glad to have them in Knoxville. Gordon even remarked several times how surprised he was that so many people came out on a Monday night. If Gordon's voice sounded weak a few times it was because he has a cold. The Pony Man and If Children had Wings sounded wonderful. I think he really enjoyed singing them for us. Will report in tomorrow night (or Wednesday morning).

My Little Love and If Children Had Wings? Plus Watchman and HANGDOG, dang I wish I was there and I hope that he keeps singing them until I see him!!
I don't care what he sounds like - he is Gordon Lightfoot! He sings, I'll be there any time I can.

I had always wondered why Gord didn't throw in a rarity or two into his set lists to keep things fresh.

Looks like he has finally done so with "My Little Love" and "If Children Had Wings".

Back in the late 1990's, he put "On Susan's Floor" and "That Same Old Obsession" into the set lists which I thought was a great move.

What a treat for long-time fans.

Can't wait for the Onamia-Appleton-Des Moines concerts now.

By the way, I have heard that Onamia is nearly sold out for both shows.

Same here....now, if only he would pull out "I'll Tag Along" from his bag of treats.

I like the set list....lots of really good songs.
I wonder how they ever decide what to play. I am not sure how many individual songs Gordon L. has penned but it must be tough to choose from all the options.

I can't wait till it's my turn to see him in person. I am so excited!

My two boys (7 and 8) love Gordon's music. In your opinion would they enjoy the live show?

That's an interesting question. I took my then 8-9 ( now 27) year old son to see him, and he remembers it to this day. It was his first concert of any sort, so the bigger-than-life factor was in play. I was also fully prepared to take him outside if he became disruptive. Thankfully, he was as mesmerized as I was.

But Lightfoot then sounded more like the Lps/Cds my son had grown up listening to. My suggestion......take a chance.......worst case......"Another tale to tell".

Default Took my 8 year old.

Thanks RM for the advice. I took my 8 year old last night here in Chattanooga. I had second row seats and we had no baby sitter. So my wife stayed home with our youngest. My choice was go alone or take one child and let him see the legend up close and personal. It was awesome. My son loved it and was as you said "mesmerized".

He can't stop talking about "Carefree Highway"...or should I say 'every highway'...he refuses to believe that Gordon is saying "carefree". Also, he loved Old Dan's Records and "Early Morning Rain" (he also is a big Elvis fan).

Anyway, I am thrilled I took him. Thanks for the advice again.
