Default How can Aussies get to see "Harry Tracy"?

I would like to see Gord's performance in the movie "Harry Tracy", but I've never heard of it appearing in Australia's TV screenings or video libraries. I understand North American videos are not compatible with Australia's video equipment. Can anyone advise how we could get to see it? (I pose the same question re the IMAX documentary "Mysteries of the Great Lakes".)

Try Val's Site @ www.gordonlightfoot.com

That is where I got mine. Already had it taped from TV english & french, but wanted the real thing with no cuts.

Oh dea Oh drear Oh dear
Dave there is a common misunderstanding about video standards. It is true that without a digital video converter , one of which I have you cannot play a brit or aussie PAL VHS tape on an american/canadian NTSC (Never Twice Same Colour) VCR or tv set. But once the video has been digitised on for example a DVD it will play on just about any DVD player .
The only problem occurs if the DVD has been region coded. When I arrived in the USA in 2000 I found that all but one of the DVDs I brought with me played here OK. The exception was a fine video of Riverdance, which the stoopid Irish producers had quite unnecessarily coded as region2 Europe
.
Whilst it is possible to change a DVD player whether standalone or built into a computer from US region 1 to region 2 and I have done so there is limit of 5 changes that you can make.
I recently bought a fantastic Philips 5990 DVD player that can also play videos made to the divx format for which there is a USB port
Judt visible on the extreme right:-

I Ican now watch 700MB video files of complete movies acquired from torrents that are saved either on a USB hard drive or even on for example CF or SD media cards
Not only that but somebody found a way of using its built in setup program to make it region free!!
SoI can now use it to watch the 5 or 6 region 2 DVDs that I have accumulated!!!
So you should be able to buy a Harry Tracy DVD anywhere it is inherently region free
If I can (as I did before Christmas) buy an Aussie John Williamson DVD in Brisbane you can certainly do the reverse!!
Keep a watch on ebay
There is ONE sealed copy on offer at the moment in NSW at:-

A s I write this that NSW auction ends in 11 hours so you may have to try another one the seller thoughtfully said this to reinforce the info I gave earlier:-
DVD Regions & Formats Explained
Regions:
DVDS are produced worldwide. Different sections of the world produce different region specific DVDS. The following table shows the different regions:
Region 1: USA, Canada
Region 2: Europe, Japan, South Africa, Middle East
Region 3: Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, Philippines
Region 4: Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, South America, Central America
Region 5: Russia, Eastern Europe
Region 6: China
Region 0: Any Country (Region: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6)
So basically, if you own an Australian DVD player, it will play region4, or region 0 DVDS. Lots of the newer DVD players however are multi-region, which means they can play DVDS from any region from around the world, and that information should be available on the DVD machine or in the instruction manual. If you are an international customer, please ensure your equipment can play the DVD you are buying. Refunds WILL NOT BE GIVEN for DVDS that cannot be played due to incorrect region or Format

Dave,
Don't worry about the mysteries of the Great Lakes. I was all itchy about seeing it and whining because it wasn't close, finally it came to Denver. It is about spawning fish. Part of Gord's song is in the opening credits and then part way through a piece is in it again.
Listen to the song on your cd, and save yourself watching the movie.

Hmmm..... it's about spawning fish Deb ?
A sex movie of that only the "special" ones of us appreciate ?
Now I AM interested . I must alert my mates in the Piscatorial Mating Watching Fanciers Club ..(well the ones that have not yet been locked up ).
The flick of a tail, the turn of a scale and that wistful yet enticing look as one of the little minxes darts from the shadows of the weeds with matters even more sensual than the grabbing of a stray worm for breakfast on her mind...... and scientists have the hide to describe fish as being cold blooded !
It is of no surprise to me that one of Gord's love songs has been used in the score of a movie of a type so under appreciated by the masses.

It must have been trained at the same zoo as this rude roo Rude. At least it's a more polite way to "give someone the bird."
Oh dear it must have been trained by the same perverted zookeeper as the rude roo:-

Thanks, MistyMoppens, but I have since seen the movie. At the start of February, I posted a thread titled "Bought Harry Tracy DVD from EBay Aussie".
