Christian Island seems to be the perfect song to play on a Friday eh?:

I'm sailing down the summer wind
I got whiskers on my chin
And I like the mood I'm in
As I while away the time of day
In the lee of Christian Island
Tall and strong she dips and reels
I call her Silver Heels
And she tells me how she feels
She's a good old boat and she'll stay afloat
Through the toughest gales and keep smilin'
But for one more day she would like to stay
In the lee of Christian Island

I'm sailing down the summer day
Where the fish and seagulls play
I put my troubles all away
And when the gales comes up I'll fill my cup
With the whiskey of the Highlands
She's a good old ship and she'll make the trip
From the lee of Christian Island

Tall and strong she slips along
I sing for her a song
And she leans into the wind
She's a good old boat and she'll stay afloat
Through the toughest gales and keep smilin'
When the summer ends we will rest again
In the lee of Christian Island

Good call classicmixdj! That is a perfect song for today, especially since it's so damn cold down here right now (New England)! I know I should complain since it's probably colder for all you Canadians right now, but we just had a warm week and I got used to it real quick, then Mother Nature took it back and socked us with freezing temps again and a little snow. So I could really use Gord to take me away, I am putting on Christian Island right now.

As far as the friday night theme goes, my faves must be "Hangdog Hotel Room" and "Blackberry Wine". Don't ask why!

Song For a Winter's Night! even I can stand winter when that song is playing.
you guys in New England have it worse than us in toronto! it was almost 50 the other day! yay!!!! yesterday was back to 20 but no snow like along the east coast. i'm SO over winter!
that's why i always loved Gord playing Massey in march - it always ran into the first day of spring and it was like an early flower blooming amongst the chill and snow and the streets that are brown and gritty.
and then my son was born on the first day of spring and it was like a sign! lol
char
slightly delusional from the long winter

I'm with SilverHeels here...
Christian Island is the most uplifting song ever written ( in my opinion of course )

Still over 30 deg ( 85 plus ) here, but Autumn is in the air..( by far the best time to visit South East Australia, Charlene )

Perfect sailing weather..

Keep Smiling Ron..

I know a great Friday song. Alberta Bound. Mr. Lightfoot meant for it to be a winter song but, it doesn't always half to be about what the artist wanted it to be. I simply love humming this song in my head on a Friday that I'm going to visit some relatives or friends that I haven't seen for a long while due to them living far away. Yessir, nothing beats playing this song in the car while driving down to Jacksonville Florida (there are folks that my grandparents know down there).

As coincidence would have it,I just listened to,"Christian Island" about 3 days ago after work, whil playing the entire Don Quixote LP. I think also that the Shadows and Salute LP's are good music for Friday. East Of Midnight I would say is more like a Sunday Night. Sundown LP is Sunday Afternoon. The rest are best for the early morning hours. Although,I can't really say what day Endless Wire could be,Monday maybe? It's been me,catch ya on the flipside of Sundown!

Actually, East of Midnight can be a friday song. But not a happy one. If it's bin a long hard week and your feeling lonely and let's say your going to the video store, or any place downtown or something and you see a lot of other people with dates and hanging out and you've got no one to hang out with it really hurts. And this is the song that would best describe how you'd feel in times like that.

I try not to do things like depress myself further through music anymore. I used to do it when I was your age too,but I finally realized that instead of doing that,I should haver got out there and tried harder to socialize. Still be myself of course but just be a little more open to new experiences and people's differences in having fun. I'm not saying go out and do stupid things (we all know what they are) but just do things your way and let others be how they are, unless they're a threat to themselves or others. I do try more now than I did then and even though I'm turning 35 next month,it's never too late until the latest hour! Hope that helps you DMD3. Catch ya on the flipside of Sundown!

I wish it were friday but it is only wednesday but I guess its bettar than monday. Songs like theres no easy way out from Rocky 4, those are the sad songs that can give you strength instead of depressing you furthur. Just remember this, don't listen to shadows from the gordies gold volume 2 or it will make you want to commit suicide. Theres only to many songs like that. shadows is not a friday song but a nighttime song

Quite right. Playing Shadows II while looking up at the stars at night will make you feel a little suicidal. But the most of us make it thru.

This has bin, (and will again be) me, DMD3.
I'll be crusin on Carfree Highway.
