As we know, Gord has released works in four decades. 60's,70's,80's and 90's.

How about picking one from each decade which is either your favourite, or you think defines the decade for him.

Frank.

Frank, you come up with all the good questions!
Let's see now, an album from each decade . . . okay, here goes:
60's - Sunday Concert
70's - Sundown
80's - Shadows
90's - Songbook

What do you know . . . All albums I picked start with an "S"

Thanks Mary Ann,
Your responses are just as good.

60's Lightfoot
70's Sundown
8O's Shadows
90's Waiting for you

These are not necessarily my favourites.
But, what I think are the best and most definitive albums he made in each decade.

Frank.

In danger of being almost repetative here, but:

60's - Lightfoot
70's - Sundown (but only just)
80's - Shadows
90's - A Painter Passing Through

Frank, I see you are still on form!

1960s Did She Mention My Name
1970s Don Quixote/or Sundown
(can I do that?)
1980s Shadows
1990s A Painter Passing Thru

but I'll probably change my mind as soon as I've posted.

If we're talking about defining the decade for Gord, I'd list the following:

1960s - Sunday Concert (live)
1970s - Summertime Dream
1980s - Shadows
1990s - Waiting for You

If we're taking four albums, one per decade, to a desert island (or Katmandu), I'd take MaryAnn's "All-S" pick of the following:

1960s - Sunday Concert
1970s - Sundown
1980s - Shadows
1990s - Songbook

I picked Sundown for the 70's through the following tortured rational. Songbook has five cuts from ODR and COTS, four each from IYCRMM, DonQ and SSOL; only three from Summertime Dream and Sundown; and only two from Endless Wire. I eliminated the albums with four or more selections, deeming the albums adequately represented. By that logic, I should have picked Endless Wire, but I couldn't bear to leave behind the songs from Sundown that are not on Songbook. So High&Dry, Somewhere USA, and the Watchman carried the day for Sundown. Sorry, DaylightKaty. Maybe there's a Rainbow Trout stream on that island.
