Default Parade: Sunday Newspaper Magazine

We were reading the Sunday Sept. 21 St. Paul (MN) newspaper and my wife spotted a question about Gordon Lightfoot in the Personality Parade section. There were many questions and answers on famous people with Gordon's question/answer is at the end. Here is the clip of the segment. Great news that a CD of the best of Massey Hall performances will be released !!

Q I recently attended a concert by folk legend Gordon Lightfoot and was sad to see the change in his once ruggedly handsome appearance. What happened?-- Pat Barker, Lindenhurst, Ill.

A In 2002, Lightfoot suffered a ruptured aortic aneurysm, similar to the condition that killed actor John Ritter. He endured six weeks in a coma, four surgeries, and two years of extensive rehab. Now 69 and enjoying a busy schedule, Lightfoot is preparing a "live" CD based on his recent concerts in Toronto.

on the phone in February 2007 he said to me:

CHAR: I talked to you at Niagara Falls about a LIVE recording.

G.L.: Yep.

CHAR: You mentioned the old recordings are no longer in existence? From Massey and places like that?

G.L.: I think I said that we had some stuff that went way back in the catalogue that we got rid of in the last couple of months but I will eventually have something from Massey Hall of course, there’s everything we’ve done in the last seven years. When that’s going to take place I can’t tell you because I don’t know when I’m going to bring that out. It can come out now or it can come out later.

CHAR: Well now would be good, now would be good! We would be ready for that.

G.L. We have it.

CHAR: You’ve got it….okay. (laughing)

G.L. We’ve got them.

hmm, i dont see the point in releasing stuff from the last 7 years. the Reno DVD covers his latter performances. i'd love to see a chronological compilation from the first Massey shows till, say the Waiting for you period.

on the other hand, i'd take anything!
