What would be an even rarer find, to locate
the hour long performance Gord did in 1972 at the studios of WTTW in Chicago. Before the program became "Soundstage" it was called "Made in Chicago".

I would like it if all of his TV appearences were put out on video. Including his videos from,"Shadows" and his appearance on,"The Midnight Special",in Feb. of '74 it think it was. Also,I wish he would release all the rest of his unheard music, good or bad! I've seen the move,"Hail Hero" and would really like to have that song. One can only hope. Borderstone, outta here & A.B. !

Matthew:

It's neither full band or solo acoustic. It is Gord, Terry and Red....trio acoustic. Very well done. Keep an eye on your mailbox, y'never know when the mailman may be feelin' generous, my friend.

To SomewhereupinMichigan,

If I may jump on board to express my great
interest in this '72 performance you speak of. (of which you speak.)

Man, I'd love a copy...a trade...whatever.

I'll be your best friend.

Please advise. patrick.

Ok...thanks Chuck and Janice. Now that we've got that figured out, but I thought it was "I used to be a...country singer!"

From what I remember, it was just Gord and
2 other musicians, I dont know if Terry and Red were there. Anyway, Gord was wearing a weird dark pancho thing with a medallion.
At one point he dropped his guitar pick and said "picks are elusive things".
The guy who produced it,I can't remember his name but he now produces some award shows in L.A., once subbed for an FM talk show host here in Chicago and said that backstage, before the show, Gord got upset about something and took his guitar and smashed every one of the lights around the lighted mirror in his dressing room. If he was upset, it didn't show during the program...I was hooked as a fan from that day on.

Spaeking of live performances & such, does anyone know the order of songs that GL peformed in concert last year? I remember most that I heard that night but would really like to know the exact order. I'm sure if you saw a concert last year, the list should be the same. Borderstone,O.H. & A.B. !

Borderstone;
Try the Wayne Francis site he usually has the set lists of most of the concerts. I found the set list for a concert I was at in 1984. I was kind of put out that he hadn't sung more of his older songs, he did a melody of them, but now I have a huge appreciation for the songs he did sing. My husband had died a bit before the concert and about a week before the concert I was putting some of his stuff away in a drawer and found an envelope with two tickets to Gord's concert. It was more of a surprise than my husband had expected I'm sure, and it was the first time I left the house since his death to go see Gord. Bittersweet memories.

Borderstone, I was at Gordon's last concert in Orillia. These are the songs he did that evening:

Triangle,
All The Lovely Ladies,
Never Too Close,
Waiting For You,
Beautiful,
Let It Ride,
Rainy Day People,
The Watchmans Gone,
Ribbon Of Darkness,
Sundown,
Carefree Highway,
The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald,
The Pony Man,
Baby Step Back.

2nd set.

Harmony,
Couchiching,
(The above 2 songs were solo, no band)
Uncle Toad Said,
Spanish Moss,
Don Quixote
If You Could Read My Mind,
A Painter Passing Through,
Cotten Jenny,
Alberta Bound,
Restless,
Blackberry Wine
Canadian Railroad Trilogy,
Old Dan's Records.

End of concert.

I think that Cotton Jenny & Alberta Bound were unscheduled additions. Gordon uses 3 guitars on stage. A 6 string and a 12 string in standard tuning, plus another 12 string in dropped D tuning capoed at the 3rd fret. He refers to this as his "F Gibson". At this concert he had the standard tuned 12 string on stage for the first set. For songs like, Sundown, Carefree Highway etc. For the second set he had the "F" 12 string for CRRT, Early Morning Rain etc.
In response to requests from the audience, Gordon left the stage and returned with the standard 12 string and did Cotton Jenny & Alberta Bound. I was initially surprised that he did not do Early Morning Rain. In the ensuing circumstances it is quite understandable.

I hope you find this helpfull
CJ
