Lovely picture, Jesse Joe. A far cry from ice fishing on Lake of the Woods in the minus 36 degree windchills we had this past week! I'll have to get out and get a photo of the fishhouse villages on the lake.
Stay warm, y'all.

Sorry if I'm ignorant, but do they just put these "houses" up on top of the ice? And do they fish from inside of them?

Well, Kerstin, I do believe that's the general idea...

But it's kinda funny, eh? These dudes take their ice fishing pretty seriously!

Of course, there may not be much of anything else to do all winter, so what the heck? Build a little shack, make yourself comfortable and .... ah... fish.

Peter Bro is right on the spot. Kerstin it's dark inside them little shacks, and as you can see in one pic, it's got 4 round holes that are covered in that particular one. But in a regular (normal) shack they drill one hole. And supposedly in the daytime the sunlight comes reflecting thru the holes in the ice, if they keep the inside of the shack dark ie: door close. It's suppose to be a scene man ? {LOL} They can actually see some fish swimming by the close surface. I myself have never been inside one, but this is what I was told... Fact or Fiction ?

This is the way they drill the hole early in the morning.

Thanks for the info Peter and Jesse,
I guess you must be really into fishing for that, but as they say.. can't argue about taste. Could be interesting for a few minutes, though, just to know what it's like.
For me ice cold winter would be more of an excuse to settle down with a good book in front of the fire place....ahhhh
