Nice try Chris but Minstrel Man holds the patent for this particular contest. Your enthusiasm is admirable but he's in control until he decides to give it up. (see the rulebook)

I PM'd him and asked if the next showdown would have The A. and CYC, but didn't even must answer my reply. Wasn't being mean by starting another showdown, I just wondered which one everyone like more, The Auctioneer or Canary Yellow Canoe?

Thanks Bill for protecting the franchise I will take a moment to publically apologize to Chris for not responding to his PM. As many of you know, I've been quite busy of late, and the fact is that I put off responding to his suggestion and then it just slipped off my radar. I have had a number of suggestions for showdowns, plus I'd like to slip in some of mine as well, so if you've made a suggestion, be patient, it will probably show up eventually. Do remember though that my original idea was not to just compare any two songs, I was hoping to hook up songs that had a similar rhythm or sound or similar lyrical content. If I do not see the logic in the matchup, I might not include it. So anyway, I will try to faithfully respond if you PM me so that you are aware of what I am thinking. Sorry again to Chris. If you'd like to compare C.Y.C and Auctioneer, hold tight, I'll post it officially soon. In the meantime, the current showdown is #15. Please go there to express your opinion. Have a happy day.

Chris,

I know you're not a mean guy and you should never take my comments too seriously. Unless I use the phrase "pound salt". I was just saying that the "showdowns" are the MM's idea and his format of 'one at a time' seems to be working out well. Stay Loose, eh ?

I know you were told this already Chris but doing someone else's thing here is a major no-no! That's like if I had tried to copy Stationmaster's "Picture That Song" game last year.

Chris, you have to remember when folks don't reply to you right away,it means they're busy with their lives.

None of us here are on "all of the time". Even I have to break from this sometimes. Either for work or personal matters. Especially when the holidays come up,I'm gone for days & weeks at times.

Just be patient man, people do respond eventually.

No doubt about it in my mind, Chris. The Auctioneer is the better of the two, and if you can actually sing it without messing up, you're doing better than most singers.

Auctioneer, even tho it's a cover.

We should stick to Gord's own stuff or compare two covers.

Canary Yellow Canoe is just bad rock 'n roll.
