Default Stockton Show

First off, thanks to SherylKat for the great ticket. I was about 6 rows back right in the center...Great seat! I would also like to thank Dream Street Rose for the GL button. I didn't know who DSR was nor did I know she was going to be attending. At intermission I'm waiting in line for an adult beverage and I see this lady with a purse made from a GL record, a pink jacket with all sorts of GL stuff on it. I just had to ask her about it all. After our conversation she happily handed me the GL button. This internet thing...WOW!

I drove from Grass Valley which is 2 hours away from Stockton (fortunately). I decided to leave REAL early so I wouldn't get caught up in the Suckramento traffic. So I get to the theater around 5 thinking that there will be nearby shops, restaurants, etc. Was I disappointed! Just old boarded up buildings and homeless people. Feel free to scratch Stockton off your vacation list.

I ended driving 10 miles back to a Borders and spent my time there.

OK, no more negativity. Inside the Bob Hope theater it is ornate and beautiful. I have no idea when it was built but the guy at the bar said it was refurbished about 5 years ago. The radio sponser dude mentioned that Kristopherson was at the show. I believe he was sitting backstage for the show because the few times Gord mentioned anything about him he would look stage right and smile. Gord did a wonderful "Me and Bobbie Magee".

Musically there were no surprises. The usual mix of songs that the casual listener wants to hear. Gord was in a great mood. His voice was in good form (by modern standards). Oh yeah, I had to hear yet once again by the folks sitting next to me, "he doesn't sound like like he used to" or, "He's so thin and gaunt". Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !

Bottom line...Gord was great!

Oh, another negative. The sound was not great. From where I was sitting I could hear Terry's wonderful guitar work but it was muddled sounding. Same with Gord's. It didn't have that crisp, clear sound. Of course maybe it's my ears?

And that's it folks!

Tony

Hi TC,

It was so good to meet and hug you. I have tried to let people know what concerts I am going to be at so I can share the buttons that my wonderful husband and I make. Your whole review of the show was right on. Nothing I could add.

We are in Hanford I hope the sound is better. At least I know for sure in Cerritos it is awesome. Maybe we will meet again during GordQuest 2009 and I can give you something new.

Be well,
DSR

I was in Stockton last night also. It was good to see Gordon again. It was great to hear him do some of the old songs that we love, but I wonder if this is the last time we will see him at all. I hope not. It wouldn't be the same world. I have loved and played his music since I was a kid. I remember when "If You Could Read My Mind" came out and how it encouraged me to learn to play guitar. Between Gordon and John Denver, I learned to play and love it. Gordon definitely has more depth though. Still, It was just awesome to see him still performing. I got in trouble with the people sitting around me for singing the songs......couldn't help it!!!! Sorry! I live on Treasure Island out in San Francisco Bay and I was wondering if anyone out there likes to play his stuff. I have played GL songs on the street and in bars, etc.. for years now and it would be great to get together with other GL musicians to play some of his stuff. If so, hit me back and let's see if we can make something happen. I could probably host a session out here if it happened. Let's see what happens tho!!! My real name is Robert rowdee1@comcast.net
Thx all!!

You need a bit torrent client such as Utorrent to d/l P2P files.

http://www.utorrent.com/

Then you need software to open the flac files (which is what you are d/ling):

http://flac.sourceforge.net/

Then you can burn files to cd via cd burning softwar:

Please........allow me to muddy the waters further

a brief glossary :

d/l = download

d/ling = downloading

P2P = Peer to Peer ( for example, if I had music on my computer that I wished to make available to others)

bit torrent = a protocol that allows P2P file sharing

flac = Free Lossless Audio Codec ( a higher audio quality than, say, MP3)
