Trivia Question...

What is an "Endless Wire"?

________________________________
Endless Wire (Endless Wire) 4:09

I ain't got nothin' to hide
My mind is an endless wire
I got both feet on the ground
I ain't got no one for hire
I ain't got a thing to show
My lines have all expired
So don't go foolin' around
And set my wheels afire
Down in the dark of a burnt out soul
There's a few good second hand dreams
Deep in the dark of a heavenly night with you
Down in the black of a bottomless hole
There's a few good second hand scenes
Deep in the dark of the heavenly blue
Where the sea runs green

I ain't got nothin' to give
My life is an endless climb
My love's a paperback dream
I don't have nothin' but time
I ain't got a thing to show
I don't know my own name
So don't go foolin' around
And set my wheels afire

Down in the dark of a burnt out soul
There's a few good second hand dreams
Deep in the dark of a heavenly night with you
Down in the black of a bottomless hole
There's a few good second hand scenes
Deep in the dark of the heavenly blue
Where the sea runs green

I ain't got nothin' to hide
My mind is an endless wire
I got both feet on the ground
I don't have no one for hire
I ain't got a thing to show
My life is an endless dream
My love's a paperback dream
I ain't got nothin' but time

I would guess an Endless Wire is a reference to having an open-minded thought process that is uninfluenced by say,self-censorship or the opinions and actions of others. It's the same as saying your heart is an open book or that you are a free spirit. The wire could be like the spools of wire that get connected to "power poles",(for lack of a better name.) Hope that helps. It's been the B! Catch ya on the flipside of Sundown!

Great question.I have a strong feeling that "Endless Wire" is simply another association of words that stuck in Gord's brain and eventually became a song title and nucleus for his lyrics. Much like the tale of the NO(bo) hotel in Manaus, Brazil.I believe that "Endless Wire" is another electrically connected title. So what was the inspiration for this song and album title?? I can't put my finger on it just now and no doubt Valerie Magee or somebody will correct me if my memory is failing, but somewhere I am sure I read or heard an interview in which Gord explained that he had been rewiring a boat and used up so much wire it seemed "endless"

Way to go Bill! Pretty close to what I said. Very interesting (think Laugh In.)
