Default From the "Whodathunkit?" file

Out of the clear blue on St Patrick's Day morning, I got a call from an old colleague asking if I was working. I said no and he asked if I wanted a job!
Naturally I said yes though I couldn't see where I'd fit into his business (physical therapy.)

Long story short as of Tuesday morning I have been working as Manager of Information Systems - or at least that will be my title a few months down the road when I have a handle on everything. Right now I'm a part-time trainee learning the Medent computer system for billing, posting invoices, patient and provider databases etc. I'm doing everything from general office stuff (faxing, filing, phone answering) to writing the procedure manual as I go along. It's not as much $$ as the lab job but MUCH less stress, and I already know almost everyone since I was a member of the Fitness Center side of the business for 8 years.

I was supposed to start at 20 hours a week but in 3 days I've already worked 16.5 hours and expect to spend 5.25 tomorrow. We get paid weekly (!) which is a luxury I haven't had in more than 20 years. Asa part-timer I don't have benefits (don't need the health insurance since my husband has it) but I just let Jim know ahead of time for doctor visits, day off, etc. and he can usually accommodate.

Can you tell I'm very happy?? To borrow from Mick Jagger et al:

You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes well you just might find
You get what you need
Oh baby, yeah, yeah!

Good onya Annie! It has been a "long and winding road" for you, I am glad that it ended up in a good spot. I thought I had heard a big sigh of relief coming from the east coast. Must have been you.
