Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
RM.... Yes, you are correct, sir. I err'd on the side of Western Hospitality versus sound reasoning -for which you've complimented me hmmmm the middle ground on this.... to a countryman who might colloquially spell an-other in two words, versus another hmmm . OK I hereby rule on a timely basis, especially for Government, the same day. I herby rule ahem.. harrumpph and all that balderdash... to wit:
Ron, you are correct. I declare that you are the winner of the clue "other" - that is in fact the song I had in mind, Tattoo, a personal favourite of mine. However, and wherefor, in light of Joveski's existing Grand-slam , despite my irregularity of accepting (an)other for other, I still declare Joveski to be the winner of the Grand slam-dunk on that round! . I do, remove the "another" clue from the winnings, as a point-in-fact , being of sound reasoning AND Western Hospitality. ! lol OK ever-buddy happy ? lets return to the proceedings, for which we have new entries. next post. ahem... Thank you RM, as the Aiki-Jitsu in which I am well versed, has the grand Eastern tradition of thanking his opponent for hitting him, as it revealed my weakness, for which I thank you... lol

CORRECT ! Congratulations !
as in:

The mind is some stranger that some soul has embraced
And somewhere between, in a no-man's land of dreams
The heart becomes the soldier yet the rock is not redeemed - " The Soul is the Rock, ~gl

next, Joveski writes: .. which is....,
CORRECT ! CONGRATULATIONS , Joveski ! ...
as in the excerpt from "Walls":

In the morning upon my window
I'm not afraid to cry, I'm not ashamed to try
To be your friend once again

well done !

Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
hi there, steve...hmm, interesting, joveski
for 88, seven island suite is what first came to mind
...'the blue light of a firey(sp?) autumn haze'
if i'm not mistaken that shade of blue is what you've been using lately for many of your fonts, heh

No. That is not acceptable. I want my share.
Here I thought I was being diplomatic to not bring up the acceptance of the 'cannot see' answer to the original 'can't see' poser: From IYCRMM : "a ghost that you CAN'T SEE".
This exercise is rigged.

Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
Joveski and JJ: hmmm two at once here.. lol .. OK.., as my daughter used to say when she was 6, not 26, she contracted "let's see here" into one word, a phonetically spelled Mamie-ism " 'tseeer" lol. So, 'tseeer:
Q87....wonder......} Which Joveski then ventures: "14 kt Gold". No jj here.
{ original clues.}
Q88....blue light....} Joveski ventures: "May I". jj offers: "7 Island St."
Q87:Steve's intended answer is different than Joveski's guess of "14kt. Gold"
let's look at that..
If you wonder why I'm acting up this way
Gonna cash my chips I'm leaving town today
I got more love than I could ever spend
So long, farewell, good-bye, this is the end - excerpt from "14 Karat Gold" ~gl
Joveski wins Q87 by a valid ambiguous case. ! Congratulations !
jj gets the intended song "Seven Island Suite" from "blue light" - Congratulations jj !
Seven islands to the high side of the bay, 'cross the bay
To the sunset through the blue light of a fiery autumn haze
To the sunset through the blue light of a fiery autumn haze
excerpt from " Seven Island Suite" by ~gl
Joveski says "blue light" is in "May I"
He's right ! Congratulations ! Joveski & jj tie on Q88 !
Red light, green light, blue light, yellow light
You can take three giant steps or baby step will do
But if you don't say may I, then I'll march you out the door
excerpt from May I ~gl
So, 'tseeer, jj bags Q88, and Joveski bags BOTH Q87 & Q88 ! Congratulations !
That wraps Q's 85 - 90 ! Here are 6 more; Q's 91-96:
Q91....run steep....
Q92....accidents....
Q93....no more....
Q94....badly
Q95....spring
Q96....martyrs....
WE ARE GETTING CLOSE TO 100. ! 'tseeeer, gl published what 270 some songs ?
We're good for awhile lol....
Have Fun!

Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
fun to ponder these while up late (watchin' some big convention...Biden my time, lol)
I'll try the bookends of this set...err make that a true daily double, alex
91 - Bud Light Katy
96 - High 'n Dry
only familiar with these cos they were toyed with at a recent cover session
well, 178 to go, steve...btw, better run your clues (for non-ambiguity validation) by the judging panel before publishing...you're bringing out RM's dark side...heh heh

Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
"hey, WAAASSUUPP, joveski?" ...Bud light was just my ill wit
there's another line: 'the waves run steep and tall'
I've now resorted to reference material, (ie. cheated!) to obtain:
92 - baby step back
93 - my pony won't go
...and I am now spent

Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
Hey RM - Ron,
I've appreciated your humour, you've been a good sport in this...its a bit of work, too, to write, and try and make the responses fun and entertaining...
But I DO want to make it fair. I know you are at least half kiddin' around... but if any of this REALLY does seem unfair, I'd be happy to alter any rules-that-evolved casually, with a consensus-type of input. Seriously, I know you've played well in it, and I don't want you to get pi**ed of at something that seems unfair... I'm just tired and error-prone ole' buddy.... and I just want everyone to have a good time. Heck, I'd enjoy playing it myself !
I'd be happy to incorporate any Reasonable suggestions for consistency and fairness. I don't know ya well enough to know when you are kidding around, and when you are actually taking umbrage at something.
So far I thought you were kidding, but a few others indicate I may be taking
your input too lightly. Don't mean to do that.
In your posts I have gotten to know you as an intelligent, reasonable good guy.... so I am willing to take your advice....I just need to seperate the wheat from the chaffe as it were - the humour from the actual umbrage... help me out....
Lets start with the obvious good advice that came up-
OK then....first, no more variations such as contractions versus not, or words broken into root words; components, to qualify. But, since I am making the Q's off of the top of my head, I can't categorically rule-out the ambiguous cases.... gotta take em if they are verbatim correct... otherwise, I'd be studying lyrics and take all the fun out of it for me.... The only time I look in lyrics at Wayne's site is when there is question of validity, or to swipe a patch of proof to cut and paste after the fact.... and then I have fun too by thinking of the clues in my head....I need to have fun too...... lol..... Sound fair to ever-buddy ?
OK Ron ?
Thanks for the well-reasoned input. I apreciate it. Any other ideas besides the above tightening up the rules on board this scow are welcome.
Cool everyone ? let me know...... HAVE FUN !

Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
message to Gordon: - stop confusing us!:
"runs deep" = "run steep"
Gord's more talented than we think! - i'll bump up an old thread for others to add to it! (mishead lyrics)

Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
s'OK, Char,
The boys are full of pi**-and-vinegar tonight. They're regulars in here, and you know, they get a few beer's in 'em and...well boys'll be boys !
Actually, I am taking note of dissension whenever it transcends the line of humour thats evolved in the thread.... it has been funny...
Ron has some good points I allready layed down some of as stricter rules in what has been up-to-now wingin' it, as its all been in fun. But Gord fans take this stuff seriously.... I know I do.... I just want to have fun guys... I don't get to play....waaah ! help me out by not arguin' - we'll have a western-town shoot-out if ya want to again...lol !
Really, in light of the above yellow-highlighted stricter criteria. if any of you have suggestions as to making it more fair, and most importantly - more fun... as we are approaching Gord's 1/2-way mark on published songs... let me know.. and by consensus I'll be happy to incoporate them... We can also pass the deal..... if someone else wants to give clues.... it'd give my head a rest... but I still am really enjoying it as long as you guys do this way... just holler.... Gord rules dudes
Thanks Char - I'll make sure they play nice..... and that the rules are fair...

Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
OK guys - I'll be back in one hour - note my time above my name at left, geodeticman
Gotta catch a show thats one hour long less Tivo wax-the-commercials - hah !
When I'm back - I'll check out what no doubt is a shut-out on Q's 91 -96 between ya.
As Ahnold said, "Ill be baack"
If you want to hear Gord lyrics ,and live, come with me....wait here, and I'll be baaaack. The T101 will have an extensive database on all Gord-songs, and its composed of a poly-metal-liquid alloy..... a whole new technology produced by David Foster.....don't get in trouble with Char while I am gone, thats what the T101 would do.....and do any of you have a new Hydrogen Fission fuel cell I can pop in ?... or do I need to hit Radio-Shack....
I know.....diet pepsi..... takefive keep ya alive..... hasta la vista babby.... beback at circa 5:10 my time.. and I'll do a balance sheet on the last set of song guesses.....
da Gubbernator
