Default Too Late For Prayin'

Just got done listening to the Sundown album this morning. As always I had trouble making it through "Too Late For Praying'" without getting teary-eyed. It really touches my emotions. Everytime I hear it, it makes me relect on the way things are and the way things could and should be. It seems a lot of us have things in the wrong order. We try to do things our own way, and then ask God to fix things up. I'm thankful we do have a very patient and loving God. But I'm sure the thought "when will they ever learn" must be constantly running through His mind.

Going into Christmas and the holiday season this is not how it should be.

The way we have messed up God's perfectly created world is on all of our shoulders. This is not how God intended it to be. With little children dying, yet how can we change things, we all need to have a good moral compass, to stive for and have a change of heart towards each other. To stive for true justice and compassion. To not only say you love someone, but to put the word into action.

I would like to share somethng I wrote a few years ago...

THE GIFT

NOW COME AND GATHER ROUND,
TAKE A SEAT OVER BY THE TREE.
BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR PRESENTS,
LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT A SPECIAL GIFT
FOR YOU AND ME.
IT'S AN OLD GIFT,
FIRST GIVEN ABOUT 2000 YEARS AGO.
YET THIS GIFT IS NEW TO ALL
THAT RECEIVE IT.
THIS GIFT IS DIFFERENT IN THE FACT
THAT THE MORE YOU USE IT,
THE STRONGER IT GETS.
BECAUSE OF THE JOY THIS GIFT BRINGS
YOU KNOW YOU HAVE TO SHARE IT WITH OTHERS.
YET WHEN YOU GIVE THIS GIFT,
THIS GIFT GROWS FOR YOU
AND BECOMES EVEN BIGGER IN YOUR LIFE.
IF WE TRULY LIVE BY THIS GIFT
AND SHARE IT'S SPECIAL MEANING,
AND IF WE CONTINUE TO PRAY.
THEN PERHAPS ONE DAY,
THE WORLD WOULD FINALLY REALIZE AND SEE
THE PRICELESS GIFT THAT WAS GIVEN TO YOU AND ME.
WHILE THE LITTLE GIRLS AND BOYS
START TO OPEN THEIR PRESENTS AND TOYS.
LET US REFLECT UPON GOD'S GIFT OF LOVE
THAT WAS SENT TO US LONG AGO ON CHRISTMAS MORN
WHEN CHRIST OUR SAVIOR WAS BORN.

KEVIN D. HESTER

May everyone have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season.

May it be filled with family, friends and warm memories.

Kevin

Thanks for those great words, couldn't have said it better myself. We really have made a mess of things and I don't think it's reparable at this point without a lot of upheaval. At least we still have the music to comfort us.

My dad was born in '23. When he was in his late 60's he told me he thought his parent's generation had messed up things pretty badly, referring to the Great Depression. the long soup kitchen lines, no employment. A WWII vet, he told me he thought the US government had really let the country down by not foreseeing the Japanese attack on Pear Harbor. I never asked him if his parents, born in the 1880's thought the world was messed up. My point is that I suspect every generation had specific things they could point to illustrating why the world was messed up. It's a cycle, and it will forever repeat, IMHO.
