Gord's Rose Tattoo
Does anyone have a picture of the rose tattoo that Gord has on his forearm?

Re: Gord's Rose Tattoo
He had the rose removed. It was near his shoulder (much to my embarrassment, one of my friends asked him about it back in 2001, and he rolled up his t-shirt sleeve to show where it had been). The tattoo on his forearm is a different one.

Well Dan it's a few years back and it's not my dog but the black rose is visible. Hope this helps, LOL.

No, I have no idea! I have seen it many times (and it is clear on some of the video footage, so you can look at there), but that doesn't seem to help. I don't think my friend asked him; I think she also thought that the tattoo on his forearm was the rose and asked about it, and that's when Gord said that he had it removed and showed us where (smiling wickedly).
It's a funny memory.

Dan,
That would be sort of neat, maybe a little odd (?), but I honestly do not know. Mine is so old I rarely notice it. I got my rose to cover up an unwanted tattoo that was even older. I've never seen a removal job that looked nice, he must have really wanted to be rid of it.

Re: Gord's Rose Tattoo
Ok, I took the plunge and went to my local tattoo artist at Hamburg Dermogragphics on Friday and had him tattoo me with a rose. Here is a link to all the pics:

Not only is there the Gord connection but according to family folklore, Rosati means little roses .

Re: Gord's Rose Tattoo
BTW, I asked Gord about the tattoo on his right inside forearm at the Penn State concert. He told me it was a bunch of Roses but the roses had faded. I asked him if that tattoo was the one he referred to in the Tattoo song and he confirmed what Val said earlier that he it was on his shoulder and there is something called "derm abrasion" and it no longer existed.

Re: Gord's Rose Tattoo
Dan,
The rose looks great. Looks like it's a trend now, LOL. I know about the fading routine as it's kind of hard to read the "Don't Tread On Me" on my other tattoo.

Re: Gord's Rose Tattoo
That tattoo in John's picture is way too big to be Gord's. The one he showed Val and me (the one that had been removed) was much smaller and up near his shoulder. I could still see the shape of the rose in the scar. John, are you sure that isn't a fan's tattoo?

Re: Gord's Rose Tattoo
Cathy,
The big rose was done by "zoneranger" awhile back when he was doing up all sorts of alternative album covers for folks to vote on and comment on. He did quite a few interesting things.

Re: Gord's Rose Tattoo
dont' think Gord would have a tattoo with his name on it either (or wear a shirt quite like that, then again, perhaps back in the afro 80's) but it's a real nice job on the graphic and vintage fun stuff by zr
nice one, Dan...you better stop trimming down, you're making the rest of us look like the futuristic earthlings from that WALL E film ...ha, what a hoot, 'pass me the remote'
the first rose tattoo I ever saw was on the Supertramp Indelibly Stamped LP...that was also my first teen exposure to soft porn ...and today, we can watch raunchy, naked MiniMe using a simple click of the mouse (no pun intended)
I got a temporary Canuck flag tattoo on July1, but that's about as adventurous as I've gotten as far as tattoos or facial or body piercings go...pretty bland

That was also what I thought when I saw it... I would not want a tatoo with my name on it.

Re: Gord's Rose Tattoo
Well, this certainly answers my question! lol I was working on the "vistory" for "Tattoo", and Tj seemed quite certain that Gord would never have had a rose tattoo with a girl/lady's name on it! Something told me to check here, and I'm really glad I did!!
Thank you!

Yes, Lynn. Answers abound here, sometimes wrong, sometimes right, but we always find the truth. Can't wait to see that new vistory.

Only the Minstrel could write a beautiful love song about a "Tattoo"!

I love it! You are such a talent. I can see by your vistories that you can "read" Gord's songs, the understanding that you have of them is beautiful. They are as if Gord directed them himself.

Yeah, when he was here in October of last year, my seat was close enough up front that I could've seen the rose on his forearm. Unfortunately, he was wearing a longsleeved shirt at the time.
