I was just reading the posts about how it's possible to meet Gord Lightfoot. I've done it a few times and was invited back stage by Terry Clements once!

98% of people aren't going to bother waiting around the backstage door after the concert as it will be 10:30-11:00 pm by the time the guys emerge.

As long as you are polite and respectable and there isn't a throng of people, you will get in to see him. ( Well in theory anyway )

However in my case, it may or may not be easier because my name is Gord as well, the guys in the band find that an easy name to remember.

I was going to get my APPT cd signed after an outdoor concert in '01 but my daughter fell asleep on the grass. I will have to remind her of that when she gets older!

Yeah Gord is personable. I met him a few year back after a concert. We chatted several minutes. I talked with Terry and Rick for about an hour and 1/2 before Gord came out. Terry drank the rest of my bottle of wine. Gord often comes out to the line of people waiting to get in prior to concerts too.

Char,
trust me, YOU do not need to be called 'Gord'. The Man knows who YOU are!

I met Gordon many times a few year back, just didn't realize it was him. It would be fun to see if he remembers.....

How do you meet somebody many times and not know who they are?

It's not so hard when you haven't seen them in a long, long time. He was also pretty busy. It wasn't until I got the Harmony CD that I recognized him. I just know he was awfully sweet.

huh? Do you mean you saw him several times and didn't know who he was? I thought you meant that you actually met him and shook his hand or something because you said he was so sweet.

Hi Watchman,
Yes, I did meet him, four times. We just chatted, never shared last names - not important to me. I knew his name was Gordon. I've enjoyed his music for many years. Found this website, got his latest CD and was pleasantly surprised to see him!
Very Sweet!!

Humphry's by the Bay:

Fine venue. Fine shows. I've always enjoyed the outdoor setting. Miss that since they put the lid on Universal Amphitheater, too.

Terry is indeed a good time rep to those of us hangin' by the stage door. Great guy. Big Barry, too (really.)

Gord stopped the booze in '82. It took me till '87. He and a mutual thickeheaded friend finally turned me around. Times are sweeter now.

Still . . . wasn't that a time

I never met Gord but I wrote him a note saying how much I love his music and left on the stage (This was at Majestic Theater in North Tonawanda, NY) and he read it.
