Thanks so much for coming up with this one guys.

It inspired a story from the Horseshoe Tavern days during the mid sixties in Toronto.

Having just arrived in Toronto from Newfoundland a group of us would traditionally head off to the Horseshoe to catch the Saturday afternoon matinee show and then stay on for the evening performances.

Gord, Stompin' Tom and many of the up and coming entertainers would hang out those days in the Horseshoe as well.

Country star Bobby Bare was the top performer on the bill this particular Saturday and we all knew a few of his songs so it was a pretty enjoyable event.

When he finished his performance he announced that the following Saturday the Horseshoe would feature a new upcoming country singer called Waylon Jennings and his band, The Wailers and he encouraged everyone to come and catch Waylon's show.

Thinking no more of it as we traditionally went there anyway every Saturday, out on stage comes this new up and coming singer Bobby Bare mentioned the previous Saturday, Waylon Jennings and his band, the Wailers.

Next thing we see and hear is exactly what's in this video. Same guitar, same everything.

Of course me just being in my early discovery years of Gordon Lightoot's music, I was immediately sold on Waylon Jennings. I thought he was just brilliant, up there with his band of Wailers and boy, could they wail out some tight harmony.

Never missed any of his shows after that one.

Another interesting thing about Waylon is he was one of the original "Crickets" in Buddy Holly's band.
