Default Canada's Raonic in Aus Open tennis qtr-final

Canada's Milos Raonic is currently playing Spain's Rafael Nadal in a quarter-final of the Australian Open grand slam tennis tournament at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena. Nadal took the first two sets 6-4, 7-6. The only other Canadian I noticed in the singles was Eugenie Bouchard, who was eliminated early in the fortnight.

Australia's only player in the fourth-round singles was Russian-born Daria Gavrilova, but she lost that match in straight sets. Once again, we have no Aussie to watch on the Australia Day public holiday (Jan26). No Australian has won the Australian Open singles since Christine O'Neil in 1978 and Mark Edmondson in 1976.

Milos Raonic lost that quarter-final. The women's final on Saturday night is Serena Williams v Venus Williams. The men's final on Sunday night is Roger Federer v Rafael Nadal. I've never been to Rod Laver Arena for tennis, but I've been several times for concerts, including James Taylor, Cat Stevens/Yusuf, The Corrs, Chris De Burgh and John Farnham. I'm seeing James Taylor there again on Feb8.

Dave, you dont want to for the tennis. too crowded and about 20 degrees hotter than it outside. i went once and never again. it's much better on the TV. but i've seen concerts there. All the Corrs ones (!), bob dylan, roger waters a few times, brian ferry/roxy music, john fogerty, weird al yankovic, bit it's a no no for tennis!

Yes, Mende, I too would rather go to Rod Laver Arena to see The Corrs in concert than to see tennis. The only Corrs concert I've been to was at Rod Laver and it was the very last concert of the world tour they did before taking a break for a decade. I recently heard they recorded a new album "White Light" in 2015, have performed concerts in several European countries and are planning to tour Australia again soon. Bring it on!

i've got the new album - it sounds a bit like Talk on Corners, which is good. 2001 was the last time they were here. i even saw them on the FOX FM rooftop special little show in 2000 that i won tickets for
