Today I discovered, that a studio demo collection of The Grateful Dead from 1965 contained a cover of “In The Early Morning Rain”. This one is certainly rather modeled on the version by Ian and Sylvia rather then on Gordon’s own version and is in the typical Southern Folk Rock style of early Grateful Dead.
Since I don’t think that this ever was officially published I feel ok with making it available as an MP3 file. It is at the moment at my home page, and – since the bandwidth is limited and the server is in Australia - I request that this initially only gets accessed by people who intend to host this file at a more viable web location and announce the mirror location here as soon as they got it up and running. If there is a big rush on it straight away, nobody might get it.

Does anybody know anything more about this version ?

Here is the text of the info file that came with this small collection :

It has been officially released both on the Birth Of The Dead release, as well as the Golden Road boxed set.

ok, Jeff, thank you !
if this is officially available, I'll take this full version down for now, maybe replacing it with a one minute sample, to give everybody an idea.
