Sorry I didn't catch your joke, although it did make me chuckle anyway, as I had a picture of the Reverend Mother from Sound of Music in my head when I first read it. I "get it" now. (I'd put a happy face here, but I can't seem to figure out how).

Thanks for the, uh, reminder.

That one is definitely on my annoying list. It's also in my misheard lyrics category, as I first heard "Come break my heart". Then I realized it was "un-break" and decided I liked my version better.

"Bring back my Subaru,I'll sue you,if don't! ....so,don't drive my ca-a-a-a-a-r"! :D LOL!

It seems pretty common for rock/country/folk artists to bend grammar to accomodate the lyrics or rhythm of the song. GL is no exception and I was just listening to Slide on Over last night contemplating this line...

"Now we got it rolling, how're we gonna get it stopped?"

Get it stopped?!?!

I imagine an English teacher reading these lyrics and whipping out the red pen to circle this line; perhaps writing in the margins the correct "how are we going to make it stop?" LOL!

However; I don't doubt GL is aware of his use of grammar and concur that sometimes in modern music "proper english" just doesn't sound as good!
