Steve Eyers will be performing triple duty during this weekend's musical tribute to Gordon Lightfoot.
A nephew of the iconic singer/songwriter, Eyers will delve into the Lightfoot catalogue along with Eric Kidd during an appearance on Saturday afternoon at Apple Annie's Café.
Later that evening, Eyers joins a performance of the album 'Sundown', mounted by Classic Albums Live at the Orillia Opera House.
On Sunday Eyers lends his guitar and voice to a group at St. Paul's Centre.
“It is going to be a busy weekend,” he says.
In addition to his role as a performer, Eyers is coordinating a display of memorabilia at the library for the third annual 'Lightfoot Days'.
“I have some pictures, I have a gold record, some old albums, some sheet music, some books,” he said, adding visitors will also have an opportunity to view a replica of the Edmund Fitzgerald, the doomed ship that Lightfoot famously immortalized in song.
Now in its third year, the Nov. 5 to 8 event kicks off Thursday evening at 5 p.m. with an open stage musical event in The Den at Georgian College, where staff and students will perform.
Swanmore Hall at the Leacock Museum hosts '50+ Poems For Gordon Lightfoot' starting at 7 p.m.
Both events are open to the public and admission is free.
“The appetite in Orillia for a festival in celebration of Lightfoot is insatiable,” said Karen Hilfman-Millson, a member of the organizing committee. “It is his hometown, his birth place where his story all began more than 70 years ago.”
On Friday night, tribute group 'The Circle is Small' pays homage to Lightfoot at Brewery Bay, followed by a full slate of events on Saturday beginning at the downtown farmers' market.
Nearby, Sunshine Ukuleles hosts a ukulele workshop of Lightfoot songs at the library at a cost of $20.

On Sunday, St. Paul's Centre has scheduled a Lightfoot-inspired worship service with music by the John Stinson Band at 10:30 a.m., followed by a 'Railroad Trilogy'-themed lunch.
Tickets are $15 and are available at St. Paul's or by calling 705-326-7351.
A cake provided by Mariposa Market, along with live music, is offered free at the church starting at 1 p.m.
Tickets to the Classic Albums Live performance at the opera house are $37.50.
