If you ain't bombed in Burmingham
Then you ain't one of us
We don't really give a damn
London is a hundred miles away from where we're at
And a thousand years behind
Splitting from a sorry gig that left us feelin' flat
Out of sight and out of mind

Not too shabby.

Bill

I prefer Kris's version of "Me And Bobby Magee" over anyone else's, even Gord's. Kris is one of my all-time favorites.

I knew Kris K. was a songwriter but I never knew he was this big! Being a bit younger,I only knew him from movies like Convoy and A Star Is Born. I didn't know he was an actual singer until the earliest part of this decade.

I did see an LP of his and some female singer when I went record shopping about 2 weeks ago,it was from 1973 or 4 but i passed on it. A couple came up who looked like they were young in that time and they snapped it up right away! I think I may have passed on something important there.

Glad to see he is being recognized though,as should all good acts of 30+ years ago. Maybe this is a sign of things to come for Gordon? Hope so. Later!

Kris and Rita were mesmerizing on stage-so sexy and hot. It was almost like being a peepingTom watching them sing together....very HOT!
she has a remarkable voice-her songs with kris are great and so are her solo albums. her version of Bird On The Wire-Leonard Cohen, is amazing. She's still singing - Kris and her have a daughter, Casey together. you can her her sultry songs at:http://www.ritacoolidge.com/main.asp I have all of her older albums-I played them till they were almost worn out. check out her album page and the album covers with kris - omigod-HOT! LOL
I think their marriage blew up due to his "acting" with Sara Miles in The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With the Sea in 1976...There was also a still photo shoot from Playboy with her and Kris and from what I remember reading the photo shoot was very "real.". Rita hit the road...She's re-married now. Her website is great-more photos at:http://www.ritacoolidge.com/ih.html .
she has stayed stunningly beautiful..the IN THE NEWS section hs reviews etc. of her recent shows. she is Cherokee in her heritage and has always been involved with Native things. I remember her wearing the gorgeous jewellery/silver and turquoise back in the 70's.
Her rendition of "Fever" was sizzling at Massey Hall in 1973 -steamy!
I'll have to pull out my pics of the concert-I had some great ones of her. http://www.walela.com/ - her sister (who sounds and looks just like her and a third woman harmonize beautifully. there's a song when you open the site. Rita's Cherokee name is Walela which means hummingbird-this site has beautiful hummingbirds flitting around the page when you move your cursor..lovely.
http://www.walela.com/store.html - i can't get the tracks to play with kris and rita but i have got to get these on CD.i have them on album and cassettes tape but i'll be getting the cd's-i've missed them!
lol

Thanks for the Rita Coolidge update Char. You're right-her "Fever" is incredible. What an amazing voice. I think I'll have to go home after work and get out my old albums for a listen.

I have a Rita Coolidge LP that has no visible (c) year on it. It's in great condition. Maybe you guys can help,it's self titled and it's cover is basic black with a countryside photo of Rita in blue denim on the front. The main song I like on it is her wonderful version of (much later for them) The Eagles,"Seven Bridges Road". (Oh,another song is "Second Story Window".)

If it sounds familiar, what year is it from and is it her first LP? It seems like it is since it has such a "no frills" approach to the cover art. I'd appreciate any feed back, thank you.

Well,I tried that one but couldn't find any info. (unless I missed something)but I found a Yahoo! site that served me well. It is indeed her 1971 self -titled LP,maybe her 1st.
Knowing now that it's from 1971 tells me my copy is a second printing because it's label is the late 70s silvery/white label and gold A & M logo. Early 70s A & M labels had the "greenish/gold"(?) color.

As for that LP I passed up,yes it was the Kris & Rita LP! Yep,I passed up a rarity! (Smack head!)>(( ))
