How long did it take??
For those of us with pretty much complete Gordon Lightfoot collections,I have a question.
As the title says, how long did it take you to get all or most of his albums, casettes, or CD's?
As far as vinyl albums go,it only took 5 months to get all the main studio albums,
then I have only about 4 casettes and that took over a year.
Including "Songbook", I have quite a number of CD's but not all of them, which so far has taken 6 & 1/2 years.
So I guess all together it would be 6 years and 8 months.

Re: How long did it take??
It's taken me since the early 70's to amass all of the albums/cassettes/cd's that have been released..buying each original CD/compilation etc. as they were released..no need for playing 'catch-up'..except for a couple of the earlier albums...it's been a wonderful odyssey of 38 years I guess..

Re: How long did it take??
I bought my first LP in 1969, "Did She Mention My Name" and my last CD Harmony in 2004.
So to answer your question "B" it would be 35 years.

Re: How long did it take??
I still haven't completed my collection yet. I think so I started in 2001, and right now I'm still missing Old Dan's Records, Early Lightfoot, and East Of Midnight. After that, I think I'll be done. That's a bad thing because then I'll have nothing else to look forward to.

Re: How long did it take??
I've been working at My Lightfoot collection since 1971, when I got the Classic Lightfoot, a greatest hits album from the United Artists Albums. I've been gathering his music ever since. I would buy the albums, and tape them on a stereo cassette, that I had. I would then play the cassettes. keeping the records in prettey good shape. Then if I had the unfortunate experience of a tape getting eaten, I could always rerecord the
album. I'm still doing some of the albums that way, as I haven't replaced all of the albums with cd's.

Re: How long did it take??
I still need to get some 45's. Namely "Rainy Day People" and most of his osingles that didn't make the top 40.
Also, speaking of the CD's who here finished the "Final Four".
Those being "Old Dan's Records","Endless Wire","Salute" & "Shadows" <---(?) I have two out of the four.

Re: How long did it take??
I became a fan in 1974 (recruited by my cousin). We were listening to the Sundown album. I've been hooked ever since. I've collected all of the vinyl including about thirty 45s and two mobile sound fidelity Sundown albums. In fact, I have two mint copies of each album...ya just never know!
The strangest Lightfoot album I own is called "Get together".
It's my goal to get Gord to sign one of my albums this year. I can't pick which one though.
Sundown would be my first choice but the album is to dark and his signature wouldn't show well.

Re: How long did it take??
I suppose it took from '69 when I'd listen to my younger sister's copy of the LP IYCRMM until '04 when I bought Harmony.
Oh wait, I did get the UA Collection late last year.

Re: How long did it take??
When Gordon signed my copy of Lightfoot in 2001, He mentioned that it was great to see and sign it. I also mentioned at the time how he whistled in the original verson of Ribbon of Darkness, and Gordon said at the time something like I can't do that anymore.
As others know Gord will sign autographs.

Re: How long did it take??
I started buying vinyl albums back in the late 60s up through Dream Street Rose. Then my musical self went away for a long time, and I'm back, starting to collect the CDs (have about a dozen so far). I'd like to take my vinyls and burn them on CDs.
I'm going to be there at the Massey and wondered: so many people have said they got autographs, are they hard to get?

Re: How long did it take??
My first at age 13 was an Eight track of Summertime Dream. I played it till they invented cassesstes. At one point I bought all of his albums in one trip to the music store...THEN CDs came about...geee who plans this stuff? I pretty much bought all the CDS at one time then added song book and then his last two cds when they came out. Over the years too, I got about 25cds more of unreleased stuff, warner demos, two tones, live concert recordings and a host of interviews so about 50 cds worth of his material. theres still about 60 cds worth of bootleg/live show and interviews still out there at least.
No i gotta switch over to MP3s which i have no clue what they are.
