Janice,sundownbuff,theotterjudy and all...
2 days to go...! San Diego...

A special mention to Janice on her first GL concert.

California...State of dreams...
(To quote a special album to you).
"If the sun went down you'd wonder why,
It was bright the whole day long."

It won't be.
"10 degrees and getting colder"
(At least I don't think it will be.)

Cotton Janice,
Let your wheels of friendship go round and round on that day. May it be special, just like you.

Go your way and toast a special drink to Corfid.com.(and that Austrian..LOL).

This is no illusion,its tenderness.
You may be 'talking in your sleep' about this time one day.

Let it be a party,a 'cabaret' of memories.

Through the coast of California...there is a road musician, without him where would we be..?(Well I Wouldn't be typing this now..!)

AND YOU WOULDN'T BE GOING TO SAN DIEGO.

Celebrate Life,
Celebrate Gord,
Celebrate San Diego.

Enjoy...

Frank.

Oh my goodness, Frank, what a beautiful send-off!

I'm quite sure my first Gord concert will be wonderful. I'm already floating on a cloud and I haven't even seen the show yet, LOL. The anticipation alone is just incredible. It will be so much fun to meet Sundownbluff, theotterjudy, and LAMS, too.

Well, I'm off to finish packing. Thanks again for thinking of me, Frank - I'll tell you all about it upon my return.

BTW, Frank...SSOL is my favorite album. I don't know if you chose it because of that or not...but it was a clever choice in any event!

Hey were you around when Florian, LAMS, and Lightfoot were writing a story using song titles? You should visit that thread, you would be a natural

Talk to you soon,

Janice

Frank, What a lovely lady Cotton Janice is. She found me at my seat and introduced herself to my daughter and me. We talked for a while and it was time for the concert to begin. She suggested we meet at intermission. After the concert we then met again at the back stage area. I am not going to tell all as she will want to share things also. What a lady.

Well, I got home from sunny San Diego late Monday night. I think I could have flown home without the aid of the plane, I was still floating from the GL concert Thursday night as well as the Willie Nelson concert Sunday night (but I'm sure no one cares to hear about that one, LOL).

Betty, what kind words, thank you. It was such a great pleasure meeting you and your daughter.

I arrived in San Diego around 11:00 AM Thursday. A friend picked me up and drove me to the hotel. I met up with LAMS and theotterjudy on the steps. What terrific ladies! Judy kept us all in stiches the entire afternoon and evening. Leslie is as warm and sincere as her posts. I was so thrilled that we had a chance to meet.

The hotel was in Little Italy. After checking in the four of us decided to walk around the corner for lunch. We did indeed raise our glasses in a toast to corfid.com and "that Austrian" we all adore. After lunch, we all piled into my friend's van and headed over to Humphrey's listening, of course, to Summer Side Of Life! (My friend, Carey, knew it was my favorite, plus his favorite song is Miguel)

Anyway, we were able to listen to sound check and peek through the curtains covering the main enterance as they weren't letting anyone in at that point. We did have an opportunity to meet and talk with Terry before sound check. What a genuinely nice guy! Humphrey's By The Bay, for those who may not know, is an outdoor venue set on the water and is just beautiful!

As Sundownbuff said, I introduced myself prior to the show had a wonderful conversation with Betty and Debby. We also met at intermission and after the concert back stage. What delightful people she and her daughter are!

The concert was unbelievable. Gord sounded and looked great! I was totally mesmerized and taken away to whole new realm of existence. I finally heard some of the songs I've seen discussed on this board that I wasn't familiar with. The band was just so tight and played as one. It was truly a remarkable sight and sound. I was surprised that Terry played so much acoustic lead. I expected more electric from reading some of the posts here. I was very pleased since I really prefer acoustic. (BTW, Erica, I can certainly understand your captivation with this man...we'll talk more off the board )
The audience was somewhat laid-back (I suppose that's the California nature) but the folks around Carey and me seemed very appreciative of The Master.

After the concert Carey and I were able to go backstage along with Leslie, Judy, Betty, and Debby. All of the band members were there and seemed very congenial and approachable. Gord was just amazing. He walked around to every group and spent time talking, signing and getting photographed. He was so warm and friendly! Carey asked Gord why he never did Miguel in concert. Gord replied, "It has a geographical discrepancy but I can't think of another word to rhyme" (lots of laughter here from him and us) Needless to say, for the entire trip back to the hotel we both listened to Miguel over and over trying to find the discrepancy. I only noticed two geographical references and neither one of them seemed inaccurate...maybe the rest of you can figure it out and clue me in.

Anyway, Frank, I "let my wheels of friendship go round and round on that day" and met some pretty wonderful folks. I hope to see Betty, Debby, Leslie, and Judy again at other concerts. (yes, now I'm hooked...this won't be my first and last GL concert).

The Set List:

1. Sea Of Tranquility
2. Don Quixote
3. I'll Do Anything
4. In My Fashion
5. Beautiful (dedicated to Char, of course LOL)
6. The Watchman's Gone
7. Sundown
8. Carefree Highway
9. Never Too Close
10. Restless
11. Ghosts Of Cape Horn
12. Baby Step Back
13. Heaven Don't Deserve Me
14. The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald

Intermission

1. Waiting For You
2. Fading Away
3. Shadows
4. Minstrel Of The Dawn
5. If You Could Read My Mind
6. A Painter Passing Through
7. The Pony Man
8. Canadian Railroad Trilogy
9. Blackberry Wine
10. Song For A Winter's Night
11. Early Morning Rain

Encore

Old Dan's Records

It was just an incredible evening. One that will forever remain in the scrapbook of my memory. I wasn't able to get any photos but Judy did. Maybe if we ask her real nice she will share them with us.

Cotton Janice
PS: Frank, went to the mountains, up near Julien, CA Friday night...it sure felt like it was "10 Degrees And Getting Colder". LOL.

Dear Jan,
I am glad you made it home safe and sound. It was a pleasure meeting you and your friend. I will be heading home Saturday morning. It was a night to remember. My daughter spent the next day telling all her friends about the wonderful time and my son-in-law now calls me back stage Betty.
Thank you so much for the list of songs that were sung at the concert. There was one that I had never heard before.
It was wonderful putting a face on a person who you have known only by the keyboard.

Frank,

We missed ya!

As for Pearl's posts, I don't know what happened to them. There was a great one in "small talk" that I was going to respond to but it's gone?!?!?

Dear Frank, Thanks for thinking of me. While Cotton Janice (I love that nickname) and I were backstage with the master we were thinking and speaking kindly of you. We were sorry you were not there with us, but do you have the address to write to Gordon to talk him into a concert in England? Maybe we would come. Boy, would I have to do some sweet talking to my husband to get to England for that.

Somethin' strange is happenin' to this site.
First, a persons post's disappear...
Now, the blue column has shrunk and the title of this topic has changed...
(Is it one of Gord's ghosts...LoL... Well, I wish I could read his mind!)

Sundownbuff,
I have to say it...
"Did she mention my name"
you mean, you actually mentioned my name to him! He knows, I exist!
Well whadio know!!!!!!
(I've almost forgiven, the disappearance of the original title of this topic...!)
But not quite...

Just joking chief...LoL

Frank.

(Janice,I've got a plan......)

Dear Frank,
Of course, "I mentioned your name just in passing" to him as I told him about his many fans in England. I think we will get him to go to England and we will too.
