On Sunday we were on our way to the in-laws for Thanksgiving dinner. We usually take the 401 highway over there but I didn't want to for some reason, I just wanted to take a nice easy drive along Highway 2 through town. As we got closer to Pickering Gord's voice was singing to me - Carefree Highway! About halfway through the song I realized we were coming up to the subdivision with Lightfoot related names! We pulled in and drove around "Gordville" with Gord singing on the radio! It was so cool - I snapped a few pics of the street signs and off we went. It was like serendipity or karma! The rest of the way to the in-laws I imagined Gord getting ready to possibly go somewhere for his Thanksgiving dinner or welcoming people/family to his home and maybe in the kitchen or car he was listening to himself at the same time I was!
It was very cool! That feeling to not get on the other highway had a definate reason and I am glad I listened to it. It made me stop and give thanks for all the usual things in my life but also for Gordon Lightfoot, and in a totally unique and special way!

On Monday we were on our way to my Uncle's for Thanksgiving dinner and Gord was singing SPIN SPIN SPIN!
I have never heard that on the radio up here!

Yes! Wonderful story, Char! Thanks for sharing.

Silver Heels,
Do you have some sort of "Thanksgiving" holiday in the UK? And if so, what can you tell me about it? Also, I just realized,
yesterday, that your lovely country is taking a real pounding from those horrific storms! Hope everyone is ok. Praying for you.

The weather has been pretty rough
over here and doesnt seem to be easing either. Thanks Misty for caring.
In the UK we do not celebrate Thanksgiving. That is something we have not yet taken on board from our US cousins
I think we should do a swop/trade: you take Guy Fawkes Day (Nov 5) and we'll do
the Thanksgiving celebration. Never have
figured out why we actually celebrate that
crazy day. More proof of Brit.eccentricity
perhaps. lol
