Crowds shuffled into the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center Sunday, June, 23, 2013 to see Canada's Gordon Lightfoot in Appleton, Wis. A variety of ages ranging from high school through senior citizen amassed in the seats to witness the talents of the prolific artist during his "50 Years on the Carefree Highway" tour.
Lightfoot is credited with defining the folk-pop sound of the '60s and '70s, influencing songwriting and music at its core. Rounded out with band mates Carter Lancaster, Mike Heffernan, Barry Keane and Rick Haynes, Lightfoot brought the audience lighthearted comedy and a solid performance with songs such as "A Painter Passing Through", "Sundown", "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", "Carefree Highway", "Rainy Day People" and "Shadows".
The talented performers received multiple standing ovations for their artistry as well as the more prominent songs in the set list. And, the evening was closed by not one, but two full house standing ovations.

Lightfoot's "50 Years on the Carefree Highway" tour continues throughout 2013 making stops in Washburn and Lac de Flambeau during the month of August. For those Wisconsin fans who were not able to make the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center concert, they will have a couple more opportunities to witness these talented musicians live and in person.
