How cool! I just recently re-watched the Carpenters biography on PBS late last month! It featured a clip of that legendary performance with Ella Fitzgerald. I'd forgotten about it.
I hope for the CD cover they choose a picture from within the first 4 years of their career. The last CD put out for them featured a gangly Karen in a goofy looking hat! I prefer the way she first looked.
I'll be looking for it,Thanks Michigan!

Borderstone,gonna post some lines tonight!:D
Whatever you may feel about their squeaky clean, big teeth, not a hair out of place image, the reason the Carpenters sold millions of records is because of that astonishing voice (and points for Richard's arrangements, too.)
Annie...you are so correct. I was never an especially big fan of the Carpenters or their music. In fact, I've never owned one of their albums or CDs. However, I would say that, among female singers of the past 40 years, Karen Carpenter rates right up there. She had a truly amazing vocal quality and I think her death was a great loss. I'm certain her best work was still to come.

It's not nice to talk mean about people who not of this earth anymore. Shame on you.

My "gong" comment was in no way directed at
Karen Carpenter, the person. I enjoy
MUSIC from certain artists both living and
gone, and dislike music from certain artists
both living and gone. Happy Easter.
