I recently attended a concert in NYC where I saw a Canadian singer songwriter - who was previously unknown to me. His name is Lorne Clarke and he turned out to be yet another brilliant Canadian.
While certainly not a copy cat -his phrasing and lyrics couldn't help but bring GL to mind. He presented a very powerful set of original music - then encored with a medley tribute to GL, whom he acknowledged as his single greatest influence. Until then I had not been aware that Mr. Lightfoot had been ill. It was a very touching "tip of the hat" from one of Canada's best new performers to the great master.
I'm surprised more artists aren't influenced by Gordon Lightfoot. His songs are just that,inspirational. Not to mention more personal & down to earth. I take it your new here,if so,welcome aboard! Julie our cruise director will be right with you!
