Could someone north of the border give us a review of the show last night on CBC. Can't wait for December for the show to air in the states. Did they promote a video?? thanks

The concert was good and energetic. Gord and the band all looked good, the camera work and lighting were well done. The songs were the ones you'd expect to hear on a TV special but also included "Restless" and "Baby Step Back" which aren't such obvious choices. The performances for Canadian Railroad Trilogy, Edmund Fitzgerald and Restless in particular were excellent with Gord sounding particularly strong on CRT.
There was no video mentioned but since the program was funded by Canadian film and TV agencies, the CBC often will sell videos of these shows.

Yes It was a great performance... I taped it onto cassette right from the TV... now I have a recent live recording I can take with me. Probably the best live version I have heard of Baby Step Back.... also Sundown was done quite well as well. I kinda gathered they did more of a studio sound as the concert was being recorded live. I noticed Sea of Tranquility was recorded in Reno so I am gonna have to wait to hear that in his present voice. His voice sounded stronger than ever.... makes me wonder if one more original recording is in the works before he hangs up the mike for good.
To our US friends to the south you won't be disappointed when it does air down there.

I noticed the keys were a bit loud and were drowning out Terry's guitar parts. Must be the way they recorded it, I'm surprised they would let that happen. I was great to see Gordo on TV again. I live just outside of Detroit and saw him live 3 times last year. I taped it.....hopefully there will be more of the show available on tape, maybe through PBS.

Well it wasn't long enough!!!
1. I.Y.C.R.M.M. - standing ovation. Black T and black jeans.
2. Sundown - clap along for a bit. Long sleeve teal blue shirt, open to third button
3. Carefree Highway - story of writing it on paper and almost leaving it in glovebox, Phoenix Ariz.
Quick Thankyiu - we're at the Pioneer Theatre in Reno.
4. Ballad - Beautiful - applause after 1st line. Different ending than the reord - voice wise I mean.
Thank you and a thumbs up!
Commercial
5. Restless
6. Edmund Fitzgerald
Commercial
7. Early Morning Rain - Black T shirt
8. Baby Step Back
Commercial
9. Rainy Day People
10. Song For A Winter's Night - song about snow and romance written in Cleveland Ohio during a thunderstorm.
11. Candian Railroad Trilogy - song about the building of Canada's rail line.
Standing Ovation
Credits roll.....
He looked very calm, sounded wonderful even if he did change Beautiful a bit!
Great close-ups of Gord and all band members.

I liked the CBC concert edit, given the one-hour format, though CBC mixed the song order from the Reno concert. Lightfoot's voice has changed, but it still sounded good on material that wasn't overwhelmed by a strong backbeat. It was especially great to hear the wonderful "Restless," my favorite of his more recent songs (and one that should have been in Disc 4 of "Songbook"), and "Song for a Winter's Night." I understand a decidedly different mix of songs (albeit including most of the hits) will air in the PBS version in December. I hear a video will be offered, but what I'd REALLY like to see is a Live CD from this concert or, better yet, Lightfoot on DVD (let us pray...!). Meanwhile, I'm eager to see him in Minneapolis on Nov. 11.

A behind the scenes picture of the audio sweetening session can be found at http://www.pizazzudio.com/Pizazzudio/index.htm.
My only time seeing Lightfoot was at the old Mill Run Theatre (in the round on a rotating stage) in 1981. It was Mike Heffernan's first show. Lightfoot joked that they were trying him out and they may or may not leave the keyboard plugged in.
I believe he did "Betty Called me in" which was pretty good in concert. I always thought I remembered the song incorrectly until "Songbook" came out.
