Hi Everyone.Since you all seem to be lovers of Gordon's tunes I thought you might be interested in knowing that there are two volumes of Karaoke discs of nothing but Gordons Tunes.
There must be some singers in this forum as I am one And also big fan of Mr Lightfoot.
We saw him in concert in Hamilton In Nov 2004 .That was his Thankyou Concerts for McMaster Hospital where he was a patient for 13 weeks.
All proceeds of these two nights went directly to the hospital.
He sounded pretty darn good.
I work in the Karaoke industry as a host and manage a Karaoke Store in Dundas Ontario.
SingKing is the producer of these two new discs and if you like to sing karaoke then you might want to listen to sammples of them at www.karaokecloset.com and click onto the link of SingKing.
They are really good. Real Musicians and intricate guitar picking as Gordon himself and that was the compliment that came from Gordon's manager who ok'd the liscensing of the music.
I am not selling anything.
But you may just want to give a listen to the samples.
My employer and friend is SingKing and the quality is awesome.
We had to go right to Gordon's people to get permission and they had to listen before they approved.
Music is very important to me and I have enjoyed Gordon's music for years and have all his albums in album form and cd format.
Have to run now but I will be Back
Bye for now

glad to see a few non-standard Lightfoot's in there also...if there's ever such a thing as an all Lightfoot karoke party/night let us know and i'd love to capture it on video/audio...i'll definitely be on the 'other' side of the mic! lol

Janie,

I used to be so vehemently anti-karaoke it bored me, too. That was because I made my living as a musician, and karaoke took jobs away from live music.

Since that time, I've fallen among a rat's nest of folkies who love Gord, Johns D & S, anyone tied to folk in any way.

Now these rats have a pretty good selection of stuff they've assembled before I came along for when they go out "karaokeing."

Where would a closet karaoker find such trax of Gord's as you mentioned. If I showed up at the next ratIfestation with such a thing, they'd go nuts . . . and I, of course, would gain in stature and respect among fellow pests.

This really sounds like fun. As I've been getting older (hold on! I'm not getting older - I'm there!)I've relented on my youthful objections and know that it's yet another avenue to get Gord's gold going.

So . . . I'm waiting . . . put me on hold, it's OK . . . and much thanks.

Something just thumped my noggin, as if to say, "Read to posts, duffus. See how they give you the adddy."

Ah, senility. Actually, I forgot what I was talking about, so I don't think I'll hit "submit."

Well "The Rez" if you do want to shock your friends and show up with a disc of Gordon's tunesthen please proceedto the website and order. I would be happy to convert another musician/closetkaraoker LOL.
I do feel somewhat the same as you when you mentioned Karaoke has removed some live music venues but if most people remember Karaoke Should be fun ,although at times as a host painful when you hear the sour notes but it beats what I used to do for 27 years and that was a Banker. OOOHH . I have just admitted that I too am falling in the old PIT. LOL
Cheers for now I have to go and shovel the driveway Major snow happening right now.

well, they are pretty much apples and oranges but given the choice i'd rather have a band-synch (karoke) with real live vocals than a live band playing with a lip-synching vocalist, lol

i didn't realize there were still those singing bars around (i was into other stuff and never got to go in one and take in the scene so i'll keep my eyes open, still) i thought that went out long ago and now folks just do it in their homes or at parties...i think the machines are affordable now to own...like i said, sounds like fun but i'd rather get a teen onto a guitar or piano and let that be their karoke machine

i like that those tracks didn't sound 'midi-ish', Janie...i can see why Barry/GL, etc approved
