Does anyone know whether Gord actually visits this site?

oh, well... I'd like to think he might, but, that'd be too optimistic, I guess.

And probably someone from either Early Morning Productions or Linus Entertainment checks in for a look from time to time.

Yeah!

Uh, why is that by the way? If you could explain it I'd appreciate it, because I don't entirely understand it.

What, that Gord isn't computer literate (as far as we know)?

If it's music related I'm sure he's comfortable around it; otherwise he leaves that stuff to staff. He's (almost) 66, not a generation that came up with computers, instant messaging, etc. He's busy with other things in his life, and probably doesn't find a need to communicate this way.

No, I was responding to Laurel's post. I'd rather Mr. Lightfoot not read this board, but I can't specifically explain to you why.

ok, I started this post over. I tried to explain it, and realized I was just blathering on.
I don't know why Violet. But I say, who cares why? Why ask why? go with your instinct.
(In other words, I can't pinpoint the reason either)
The thought of him reading our posts is just too freaky to contemplate...
he'd be a lurker!

On one hand, I could see where you could possibly think of him as a "lurker" for reading these posts without replying. And even if he did (which I doubt he does, now that i think about it -- I mean, the man's got better things to do), what would be so wrong with that? Do you remember that movie with Sally Field called Soap? Or Soap Opera? Probably about 15 years ago. My point is that she was a "famous" actress and whenever she was feeling down or her confidence was low, she and a friend would go to a mall, her friend would "recognize" her and flocks of adoring fans would surround her, clamoring for autographs. A huge boost to her sagging ego. Frankly, I can't see GL doing that -- or coming into our sites on him. Guess I answered my own query. From what I've observed about him, he's TOTALLY about his music and his family.. and that's it. So, no, I don't think he comes to these sites. But, one of you probably hit the nail on the head. I bet a curious grandchild (if he has any -- I don't know) probably might cruise the 'net in a moment of boredom, looking to see what people are saying about his/her famous grandparent. But, it was pleasant to think about anyway....

I'd rather have him as a lurker than a troll!

It really is wonderful the things you can find using a mite of googling!!
If you really don't know I found this descriptive site which is quite a good read anbout internet trolls http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?TrollDefinition
acually I had hitherto assumed it was something to do with Norway and found this description at:- http://www.cyberclip.com/Katrine/Nor...rds/troll.html
"A dwarf or giant inhabiting caves or hills. Ugly, powerful and generally dangerous humanlike
creatures, but stupid and naive."
hence my reference to them in connection with a recent topic by Norwegian daniel in which I displayed a picture of Norway not too unlike this one:-

The Trollstigen (Troll's Path), Isterdalen
John Fowles

It was SOAP DISH, a real hoot (Kevin Kline, Whoopi Goldberg, Kathy Najimy, Karen Black).
Last I knew, Gord has two grandchildren.

Apologies Sheryl if I took your comment at face value
but t least it made me curious to find out why internet pests are referred to as "trolls"
A pair of wonderful reads John Thanks so much I half to say though that the sample troll pic on the second linked site bears
an uncanny resemblance to how I pictured the former annoying poster here who was it seemed from his family's third generation
