Live 8...wasn't that a party?

I was sorry to hear some of the comments from the media regarding the line-up for the Live 8 concert in Barrie. It seemed that a lot of people were criticizing the show because of it's "over the hill" content. Well I guess maybe I'm "over the hill" too, because I found the performances to be wonderful.

Perhaps some of the critics don't realize that the reason some of the performing artists are "old" is because they have endured. Was I the only one who got a tingle up my spine when Gordon Lightfoot started into the opening bars of "If You Could Read My Mind"? There was this somewhat frail, lone figure with only his guitar as accompaniment enrapturing the hushed crowd with his clear beautiful voice and his poetic lyrics. And what to say about Deep Purple? Thirty-five + years together and they're still rockin'. They may be in their sixties but they still know how to wow the masses.

People like Neil Young, Bruce Cockburn and Bryan Adams may have been around for a while but they deserve to be. Great music is ageless, and these artists along with some of the other performers will be remembered for their talents years after most of today's popular musicians/video performers have been long forgotten. In the words of Neil Young...Keep on Rockin' in the Free World.

Have a great week and go out and enjoy the summer!

I can see why they refer to him as looking "frail." He is so thin he looks as though an unexpected gust of wind would knock him right over - I should have that problem

Naww... I'd put him more in the category of "wiry." But, he's muscular. Check out how his jeans fit him, girl! And when he wears short-sleeved shirts, those arms have muscles. He isn't going to have the same body he had 20 years ago.. do any of us?

He's very fit-he's thin and gives off an aura of calculated strength. His movements on stage refelct this. He wears his clothes quite well and looks very elegant in his new stage duds. Giving/getting a hug also shows how toned he is-he's lookin' good and feelin' good.
His buddy The Governor General of canada isn't tho: (she took my backstage spot the first night of massey!) I hope she recovers quickly tho:

I had NOTHING to do with this problem of hers!
