Rochester, Minnesota show sold out
http://www.riversideconcerts.com/con...nlightfoot.asp
Supposedly holds 3000 for concert seating..
I'm a little confused about this venue because it looks like a sort of all-purpose basketball arena with no permanent seating on the floor.. (not sure if we're gonna find folding chairs or what)..
Anybody out there familiar with this Mayo Auditorium part of the Civic Center complex down there?

This'll be a first..
This will be interesting..
Lightfoot in a large gym..
The acoustics could possibly float around the room quite lovely..
or this could be an audio nightmare for the ages..
I shall report my findings accordingly..

Re: Rochester, Minnesota show sold out
Hi all.
We were in this auditorium about 7 years ago when Bob Dylan played it. It is a multi-purpose facility. Think they can do concerts, wrestling matches, donkey basketball, state political conventions...... all the cultural events never to miss !!
Don't remember much about the acoustics but I don't have a memory of them being awful. Of course, when Dylan plays, who could tell? ;>)
Glad to hear it Rochester sold out. The extremely reasonable price has much to do with it. We are in Row 8 somewhere. Stop up and say hello.
Also planning to go to Minneapolis and Duluth. Will post set lists. Thanks to all who posted set lists in the past week. Great job.

Re: Rochester, Minnesota show sold out
So y'all don't like Bob D. or you do like him and you're just joshing ? I've seen him a couple times and he was 'playing in tune on time' and he has written a tune or two. But like my mother-in-law used to say 'THAT'S WHY THEY MAKE VANILLA, CHOCOLATE & STRAWBERRY'. I'm so old we only had three flavors back in the day but you get me, eh.
Peace,
Bill

Re: Rochester, Minnesota show sold out
Just got back from the Rochester concert. I am happy to be the first to announce that the Rochester show was spectacular. Gord sounded excellent! The crowd was into it, and the guys played beautifully. Those who have tickets to the last 2 shows, leave your worries at home. He sounded awesome!
More to come, but gotta get to bed now. Big day tomorrow.
Oh and by the way, I met Gordon Lightfoot tonight...

    Gitchigumee ~
That sounds great!!!! And, if we don't get to meet Gord, we are meeting you tonight,
you, that has just met Gord. That will be enough for me, although to meet him would be the
extra bonus, the jackpot. Now can't wait until this evening. Hope to meet many of you.
See you soon...............

Re: Rochester, Minnesota show sold out
I was at the Mayo Civic Center last evening in the first row..
and I can tell you absolutely and without doubt, that the (Milwaukee) rumors of the man's great demise are, um, well, greatly exaggerated to say the least..
Great venue, great crowd, the orchestra.. right on the music..
and the man himself?.. beautiful..
He was great! The vocal was strong and enchanting..
I've been to (well, after tonight in Minneapolis) 30 shows
and last night in Rochester, was one of the very best..
I assure you..
The end of the road, is nowhere in sight my friends..
If Gord shows up within 4 hours of your hometown in '08?..
well you get up and get on the road my good friends..
Walk out on that man and that band before the show's over?..
Ridiculous..
On to Minneapolis..
Life..
is so very good..

I always love hearing from those "fresh from the show". I can actually feel your excitment! I'm still riding my "high" from last Sunday night's show!!! most excellent!
Looking forward to more details.
