Gord is held in high esteem by music lovers and critics.
One thing I have found to be under reported over the years,is other artists opinions of him and his music.
I know for example,Dylan likes him a lot.
But, what of any others? Does anyone know?

David Foster (producer) knew Gord would be the first singer in the Tears Are Not Enough song as he hummed the few first bars into his tape machine while driving in Vancouver. He said it's such a recognizable voice and it's Lightfoot!
Blue Rodeo's band members are followers, as are Murray McLaughlin, Anne Murray, The Good Brothers, obviously Ian & Sylvia!,. I think all Canadian performers hold Gord in very high esteem and the utmost respect for his dedication to his craft and the staying power he has maintained as an international performer while remaining in Canada. He did things his way and reaped the rewards, whereas so many of the big Canadian names headed south and never came home. They wear their Canadianism on their sleeve but Gord wears it in his soul. This country IS Gordon Lightfoot as much as Gordon Lighfoot IS Canada. That's a fact!

Char,
Your posts, are like you.
One in a million!
Or should I say 160(or how ever many there have been)in a million!

Gord influenced a lot of younger artists.
But his own generation of artists opinions of him are a bit of a mystery.

Frank.
