I belong to the Muppet Show forum as well, we were kinda discussing this over there, the only Canadian performer to appear on the show back in the late 70's was Anne Murray, I just got thinking, it was an absolute travesty of justice that Jim Henson never had the foresight to have Gord on the show. I can think of a few songs they would have had a riot with, Sundown, Song For a Winter's Night, The Pony Man, Steel Rail Blues etc.

'The Watchmans Gone' and 'Betty Called Me In' would be perfect for the muppet show.

I agree with you on that Gord! I saw each and every Muppet Show from age 8 until just before I turned 13! In fact, they had on Johnny Cash too and Debbie Harry of Blondie who actually joined Kermit for a Rainbow Connection duet! Not just GL but most folk music has great kid appeal. If he ever was asked,I can only guess he would say no out of the fear of looking silly. He had kids, they would've loved it! Imagine what they'd have done with,"Pony Man" or "If Chdren Had Wings"? Oh,well. Opportunities lost,I guess. Been me,later!

I taped almost all of those shows back in the day and my kids have always enjoyed them. A local cable tv station up here just began running them all again and i am making all new tapes. the others are OLD and scratchy now from so many viewings!
Last nights show was Rita moreno.Tues.was Sandy Duncan and Monday was Jim Nabors...LOVE that show!

I feel so stupid for not thinking of it earlier. The muppets would really be jammin if they played 'Canary Yellow Canoe' on that show.

Hello, what about if the Chipmunks did one of his songs? Which one would you like to hear? I couldn't pick one.

Matthew,

That is one horrifying concept! Steven King's got nothin' on you. The mere thought of the Chipmunks covering a Gordon Lightfoot tune is enough to make me lose my lunch!

Oh I don't know! I really think I'd love to here Alvin,Simon & Theodore get down with their munk-selves singing,"The Ballad Of Yarmouth Castle!!!" Or how about Alvin giving it his all with his rendition of,"The Auctioneer"?! Although,I think with WOTEF,they might be putting all their chips in one bag! Besides, the Chipettes deserve a go at it to! I'd love to hear the girls sing Pony Man,with their ultra-cute voices, one might be driven to tears. They could all do the CD together! Sort of a triple Sonny & Cher except.....everyone's short!!! Been me,Later! (We're the Chipmunks! Comin' on stronger than ever before! The chipmunks,Alvin,Simon-Theodore!)
