Hey guys!
Last night I was at a local "Entertaiment Center Store" (for lack of a title)called Fry's Electronics. Along with home elec. they also sell DVD's & CD's.
I was there buying my brother's birthday
(07/02) present and a lady was in the same CD aisle I was ( "L" ). I guess she was shopping for her teen becasue she picked up a Linkin Park Cd and I joked,"One of your favorites?"
She said,"No I'm too old for that "stuff". She metioned though that she had not bought herself some music in awhile and so I showed her GL's Complete Greatest and Harmony. She had no idea that Gordon was:
A: Still alive
B: had any CD's out in the last 15 years
C: The subject of a website
She mainly wanted good easy going music,so heck, who better? She said she used to listen to him long ago.
I also told her about the site and she said she might give us a look.
I kind of felt proud for bringing back another former listener.

Good goin' Border-man.
You know, when I mention GL to a lot of people, most of them say "Isn't he dead, now? I heard he had an annurism". (forgive spelling) Then I say WHAT?? I thought he survived. Surely he ain't dead. He was doing good the last time I heard. Then, after a few seconds, I realize that they don't keep up with GL like we do, and since they're not updated on GL news, they don't even know that he's back up and running now. I hate it when that happens.

Heck, there are a LOT of 60s and 70s artists still touring and making CDs. I often do my best to spread the good word of my favourites who are still out there - GL included, of course.

Borderstone,
Nice job. I guess the Lightfoot legacy is in our hands. Steering a bit off course.....
I'm sure it has been discussed many times here, but I was wondering how much success fellow posters have had in passing along appreciation of Lightfoot to their offsprings.
In my case, my 24 year old lad has been "brainwashed" with Lightfoot. But every time he awakes from the Lightfoot sound, he reverts to Rap.
Pray for me,
RMD

I have been known to say in response to "isn't he dead?" etc..."gee he sure didn't look it when I saw him give 4 sold out concerts in Toronto last year. (Which will soon be updated to August! )
Good job Borderstone. A true Lighthead you are. My daughter is dating a new guy...to my concern, closer to my age than hers...but I did ask her if he had heard of GL and to his credit he said he had and didn't add "is he still alive?" LOL

Reminder..my 21 yr old listens to GL... and loves it, as well as the rap... ugh. Will be glad when that phase has passed...But while I still had a CD player in the car, we both agreed the Sundown CD and particularly The Watchman's Gone was THE travelling CD...he even took off his headphones for it..

The one that really gets to me is when people confuse him with Jim Croce,in terms of existence!
I know folks don't follow music like I do but c'mon!

LSH,
I'm glad to hear that I'm not that alone in this universe.
I never thought of "The Watchman's Gone" as being a travelling song.....but I do now.
Thanks,
RMD

Anytime Reminder..
I read your post to my son, who said it "hey, that sounds just like us, except for mother and son instead of father and son"
so glad he was able to make that distinction... he's learned something after all !
I was really rather hoping the rap would be gone by the time he was 24...hope springs eternal...
lsh
ps. Thank you Bill..your boy is quite the fine young man as well..
