SOUL TRAIN's Don Cornelius's,suicide at 75
Don Cornelius, the creator, producer and smooth talking host of the long time music TV show Soul Train, took his own life in the early hours of the day,February 1st,2011.
I found this reported on IMDB just about an hour ago.
I saw a got bit of Soul Train in the 1970s but lost track after that. I did see it presented in a sense on "Fresh Prince Of Bel Air" with Will Smith in the 1990s.
The eerieness of it for me though,is that just last night, after two nights of viewing, had been watching Disc #1 of The Best Of Soul Train" from my local library. ('71-'72 time). I had just returned the DvD and gone upstairs & logged on and then saw it on the front page of the IMDb site.
I can't even begin to guess what would drive such a successful man who brought so much to the world,to end his life this way. He gave those in the African American community a snse of pride,in not just their msuic but themselves as well. At the time,he was a really good role model for them.
RIP Don Cornelius, may you rest in peace, love and soul & may whatever was troubling you be at rest also.

I read about Don's suicide on Facebook yesterday. What a loss.

Unfortunatly he did have some issues in recent years. He was arrested some years back for domestic violence and eventually he and his wife divorced.
While we can't put people like Corneluis on pedestals it does seem like it happenes too much with these people and who knows, he might of had personal issues for years and it's just now it finally comes out.
