Lakeland, FL
The concert in Lakeland was very good yet pretty uneventful. It started on the stroke of 8 pm, not sold out but it was a respectable audience size especially considering it was a Wednesday night. The set list was what one would expect with the inclusion of Spanish Moss, If Children Had Wings, Make Way for the Lady, the Trilogy. Gordon said he and the band do a little bluegrass number as he introduced Alberta Bound. I had never thought of that song as such, but I guess it qualifies. Or maybe he was referring to the new snazzy ending. He also said he thought it would be appropriate to do Song for a Winter's Night considering what a cold winter it has been in Central Florida. The audience agreed. Gordon's voice was quite good and reasonably strong although a number of people in the audience were asking among themselves for someone to increase the volume. I have often wondered if there wasn't some technolgoy that could supplement the volume of Gordon's voice. I did notice that the band's level was very subdued, maybe in response to some commentary last week about the band's volume overwhelming Gordon's voice? As usual, the band's performance was flawless. Although no one on stage appeared ill, Gordon did do that forward bend that he does several times in an attempt to unblock his ears, I think. I met a man in the audience who said he was the person who introduced Gordon to Barry Keane years ago. He said this occured after Gordon had listened to an Elton John concert at which point this man and Gordon concluded that Gordon could benefit from expanded accompaniment on stage a la Elton. This man said that Barry Keane is the nicest person anyone could ever hope to meet, but I don't think that qualifies as a news flash to anyone who might be reading this posting. Gordon explained at length the current plan of 70 concerts per year, that being the number it takes to keep all the bills paid. He stressed how he and the band practice regularly, that after having weeks or months off, they strive to make it sound like they had just played together as recently as the night before, that their focus is on the performing, that the touring is rejuvenating. It all sounds very promising for continued concert dates, so I guess all is well.

Re: Lakeland, FL
Thanks for sharing!! Sounds like it was a nice, quaint evening.
Last year, I don't recall that Gordon had any obvious sinus issues, etc., at any of the concerts I attended (he didn't do the head tilt even once)...but the year before, he had to every time. And except for one song during the Nashville concert...if he hadn't of said anything, I wouldn't have noticed.
They are such pros! I would never be able to tell if any of the guys were sick or sleep deprived, etc.

Re: Lakeland, FL
A nice lady that I got to know on You Tube sent me her pics from a Gordon Lightfoot concert that she attended in Florida & gaved me permission to post them here for all Lightheads to view.
