Well All Right
I mean not all right eh?
I noted that Char here and brink in an email had requested copies of the auction page so
dutifully yesteday I spent an inordinate amount of time sending them the main html page
followed by a second email to which I had to labo(U)riously individually attach the no less than 34 graphics files from the linked files folder that the main html file draws upon to recreate the complete saved page(that includes the two large pix I displayed above and a heap of small files for visa card etc.
I then had to devise an emailable tutorial to try tell my dear friends what to do with all of these files
After I had finished I vowed that I would never attempt that feat again. Then today not only did Char email back protesting:-
"omigod Sir John - i could do open heart surgery quicker!"
but now Bru/silverheels sticks her hand up I have therefore now uploaded at a much quicker rate the whole shooting match to
my web site so
1. click on this link
http://johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/GORDON_LIGHTFOOT'S_BOATGOLDEN_GOOSE.htm
and if you would then like to save it to your hard drive (or a floppy: the files total only a mere 145 KB)
2. simply open the page then right click and
3.go to the drop down file menu and
4.select "save as" using the default "save as type" which is "web page complete (*.htm,*.html)"
If you are saving to a floppy (recommended) it will chunter away until 100% has been saved.
you should then find on your floppy the main (HTML) file:-
A.eBay item 2199782087 (Ends Nov-04-03 091958 PST) - 1979 ARTICLE GORDON LIGHTFOOT'S BOATGOLDEN G.htm
and a folder:-
b.eBay item 2199782087 (Ends Nov-04-03 091958 PST) - 1979 ARTICLE GORDON LIGHTFOOT'S BOATGOLDEN G_files
which if you explore you should find now contains the 34 graphics files that caused me so much hastle anf grief yesterday
including of course the two larger files
028goose1.jpg
and
028goose2.jpg as displayed above
the html file is in fact the same as the file that I renamed and uploaded and gave you the link to above:-
GORDON_LIGHTFOOT'S_BOATGOLDEN_GOOSE.htm
which still contains links to the graphics files in the folder that I left with the complete long file name
as shown in 2. above
If you are using Netscape tough because for reasons best known to Netscape it does not appreciate the superfluous spaces in the original file name as saved
Here endeth today's computer sciences lesson boys and girls
Ain't
Wunnerful???
