That same thing happened to someone else recently. Unfortunately the only way to guarantee that "your name" will be yours for the duration is to register it - if you don't, it's free game and there for the taking. I've always thought registration is a good means of protection in more ways than one. Sorry Iwasacooldude
How about using "Iwasnotsocooldudebutnotthenotsocooldudenowbutthef irstnotsocooldudewhogotmynametakenbyadudewhosenots ocool"? Just kidding. I understand the name "adoption" by someone else can be a problem if they start saying stuff contrary to what you would say and everyone thinks it's you. Good luck.

lavender had her name stolen some time back but the person who took it only posted a few times under that name. Have you seen any posts by the "registrered" notsocooldude? If not it may be the work of a prankster like we've had a dose of lately. formerlylavender still posts with the new name. Good grief we're having a rough patch around here.

I had my id on ebay stolen recently also, that was a real mess to get cleared up. Ebay sent me a notice that my email had been changed and asked if that was correct. They ignored my "no way" answer and changed it. Sorry about your name here. We will have to remember you are no longer who you were.
