St. George,Utah-Cox Aud.-Dixie St.Univ.9-27-2013
Rick pic: Sept.27,2013 Friday night down in the very South of Utah on the campus of Dixie State University (formerly Dixie State College), in the town of St. George. We're in the Avenna Center's Cox Auditorium on a beautiful evening.
Here's a shot I took (with my CrackerBerry), during descent, flying to the south over St. George, Utah, shortly before making our turn to land at the new airport, south of town. Just above the center of the picture and on the left is the old airport, which sat on a bluff just above the west side of town. As you can see, there was no room, there, for expansion, or runway extension to serve commercial traffic. This reminds me of all the blah, blah, blah, and opposition to our Island airport expansion in Toronto. The 2nd shot is on final into that new airport. This is a breathtaking part of this magnificent North America in which we are blessed to live!
